Note: 360 S5 robot vacuums only support 2.4G, can’t work on 5G.
Intelligent Zoning
Want to split the living room into two zones? 360 S5 robot vacuum would do that for you. Once the map is built, 360 S5 lets you merge two rooms into one or split one room into two separate zones.
You can also set up virtual no go zones to keep your laser robot vacuum out.
Powerful Cleaning
Four Power Modes
With 360 S5 robot vacuum cleaner, you’ll get quiet, standard, powerful and max 4-stage suction power to adapt your cleaning plan.
Note: The Powerful and Max cleaning mode might dry battery fast. Don’t worry, when the battery level is less than 20%, it would go back for recharging to 80% battery level and then continuing finishing the rest of cleaning.
Up to 20mm Height of a Threshold
The maximum height of a threshold that 360 S5 can transition over, when performing a cleaning cycle, is 0.8″ (2 cm).
Auto Carpet Detection
When 360 S5 detects it’s on a carpet, it’ll adjust the suction of the vacuum from standard mode to powerful mode and switches back down when on hardwood automatically.
Note: The robot vacuum could not work properly on dark or black carpet because of the cliff sensors.
Other Smart Features.
Up to 10 Multiple Floors Plans
360 S5 remembers up to 10 floor plans, so whether it’s cleaning upstairs or downstairs, once the map is built, you can choose the right map for it to use.
Note: Please let the robot vacuum start from the charging dock to finish its first whole house cleaning map, then it can save the map. Once map has been saved, you don’t need to take the charging dock with you again, just take the robot vacuum to that floor and switch exact map through APP.
Anti-drop Sensors
360 S5 uses drop-sensing technology to avoid falling down stairs and off of ledges.
Works with Alexa and Google Assistant
360 smart robot vacuum works with Alexa and Google Assistant, you can turn it on and off or adjust suction power by voice control.
Note:
Skill Name in Alexa: 360 smart cleaner.
Service Name in Google Assistant: 360 IoT
For your concerns: Can I choose 360 S5 if I have carpets in my house?
Low-Pile Carpet Could Work
360 S5 can be used on low-pile carpet which is less than 1/4 inch in height as the above picture shows.
Medium Pile Carpet Can’t Work
360 S5 cannot work well on medium-pile carpet which is 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch in height as the above picture shows.
High Pile Carpet Can’t Work
360 S5 cannot work on high-pile carpet which is 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch in height as the above picture shows. It will get stuck easily and cannot be used properly.
Note: 360 S5 couldn’t work on dark or black surface carpet because it will regard dark color as cliff and couldn’t work properly on it.

Ran both this (S8) and the S5 in my home to test to make sure these vacs would be fit for giving to my 91 yr old grandfather. Ran both units in what I would call an obstacle course of a home that another lesser ‘smart’ vac had failed in.
This ran on high pile carpet, tile, slippy bathmats, floppy rugs and general clutter. Never did the machine get stuck or lost in my home setting. Its obstacle avoidance seemed great. I tested it with some discarded laundry and didn’t seem to run into issues. The vac was able to roam even in the bathroom with the bathmats that I KNEW would slip some and it never lost its bearing or got stuck. The blocking zones and invisible walls work well, no sign of violation of their spaces in the time I have been running it.
App works, has language packs for the vac recorded in Spanish, Korean, Italian, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Chinese and English. Its semi verbose the device alerts when it starts, stops, charges, needs to charge, done charging, when the dustbin is removed/replaced and presumably something if it gets stuck. It would be nice if the speaker for the voice could be louder but thats a minor gripe.
The Map part of the app works well, you can divide it into rooms and set what power you want in each room as well as ordered cleaning. There is options for creating scheduled cleaning sweeps for both the whole house and for rooms. There is wizardy in the options for multistory buildings but that has not been relevant for me yet and I’m not sure its something I would even want to mess with. App has a function to find the robot and control it in RC mode and move it remotely (the vac can run in this mode but it is heckin hard to steer)
Its battery life is somewhat lacking but better than the s5 with it managing for 40-50 minutes on the standard-powerful suction cycle. takes a bit to charge but that’s fine. When doing tasks it will run itself down to 20% and then charge itself to 80% before resuming which is nice as that’s good for the device battery health. The upside is that the device does an excellent job of returning to charge, and going back where it left off when it finishes charging.
Dustbin is simple to remove and easy to empty. Doesn’t look like it will have ‘leakage’ issues there is some kind of rubber or silicone around the seal to open and close the dustbin to empty it. Dustbin does have a small Hepa filter in it though I cant tell you if it is effective or not..
Device has a smart and simple to remove rotary brush the can be cleaned of any picked of hair with ease. it really seems as though the device was built understanding that hair will inevitably get into places and that it should be easy to maintain.
Sadly I have not tested the mop portion of the machine, I currently do not live in a space where i could justify using a mop since more than 80% of the space is carpeted. If I ever move somewhere with mopping needs this will get updated.
The device has been fantastic overall. The only gripe I would say I have overall is that the docking station is a bit lightweight and can be knocked and moved some by the machine atleast while it is on carpet. I might look later into sticking some weight inside it so that the vac doesnt slowly move the dock out of the planned location.

Trying to find a robot vacuum with all the features I wanted on a budget felt nearly impossible. I purchased two previous to this, neither of which truly had the features they advertised. The 350 S5 on the other hand had everything I wanted and was advertised and on top of that had a reasonable price tag! I have been using it now for about a month and could not be happier.
Mapping:
The mapping feature is fantastic, it took about three times of running to fully map my house (about 1900 sq ft) and continues to update the map every time it runs. It has a scheduling feature that allows me to pick a time for it to run and on what days of the week.
Scheduling & Battery:
I have two schedules, one for weekdays and one for weekends. Now that it has a good map of my home it can clean the entire house and still have 30% battery life leftover.
Suction & Noise Level:
The suction power is decent, it definitely has to pass directly over stuff to pick it up (which I find is true for every robot vacuum) but it does a great job mapping to make sure it covers every inch of floor. I run it on ‘quiet’ mode and find that it still isn’t super quiet. I can’t hear it when it is at the other end of the house in the bedrooms but when it is in the same room as you, you can definitely hear it.
Only Downside:
I did find that where I originally had the charger base located, the sun came in around the same time the vacuum was trying to dock and created a problem. The sensors on the base seemed to be blocked by the sun, fixed it by moving the base to a different location!

Great suction power
Good battery life
Amazing mapping
Goes over mats and rugs with ease
Large dust bin
Finds charging bay easily and restarts right where it left off after charging
Bought a different brand that had great reviews and we hated it. It forgot the map of the house and just kept going over and over spots it had already got.
We got this one and it’s AWESOME. It fits under our bed easily and makes methodical turns, it even rotates slightly to get every edge with the little arm brush.
We have a tri-level and it remembers each floor perfectly. You can even set it to just do one area or room that you pick on the app
The Only complaint is that if the sun is shining directly on to the floor where it is cleaning it thinks it gets stuck inside the light, so we just closed our shades and it kept going.
I would recommend to anyone and everyone

This is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I am the guy an until I bought this, I did all the vacuuming at home. (Wife’s the cook.) Since I bought this and took the time to learn the app. I have not seen a dog hair in the house and that is a miracle. This little robovac first sets out and does the perimeter of what is available to vac, then it moves in the most efficient pattern. It creates maps and you can save the ones you want (I use the vac on 2 floors and just carry it to the second floor every week or so, the first floor I do once every 2-3 days. The hardwood floors are lightly polished, the carpets are fluffy, with lines from where the vac went (My wife likes the lines)…………..and there is a complete absence of dog hair. (wow) I love this little machine and I am not easily impressed.
Now the bad…………….well, nothing is bad really, except it does have a bit of a learning curve to the app and it took a few times to set it up, but once done it has been flawless. I did have one until that came with a bad battery, would not charge for 3 days, but after returning and trying again I am hapy as a clam with this machine.
There is one IMPORTANT thing for you to know if you buy this. Be very careful when you are cleaning the filter as there is a small magnet in the filter that MUST stay in the filter, if the magnet comes out, the unit cannot see the dustbin and the filter which is attached to the dustbin. It will not function without the filter and dustbin, so be sure to keep a close eye on that little magnet in the filter when you clean the filter. (The magnet is at one end of the filter, you can see it if you look closely, if not get a magnifying glass and look at both ends to see the little shiny magnet.)
Nothing else comes close to this machine for the price, it is amazing.
I cannot comment on battery life yet, I have not had it long enough. I will update this is if my opinion changes along the way.

So far so good. Just installed and set up. It seems well built (seems solid) and very smart (will maneuver under barchairs, also if you move the robot or it’s base while it’s off, it’s good about figuring out it’s new location). It’s capable of going on top of most carpet although shaggy carpet gave it problems (solved by making the carpet a nogo zone). The app is very good- once the robot maps the house, each room gets a name and can be set up and cleaned independently, or in an order you designate, with different settings – quiet mode, standard, or maximum power mode for the extra filthy. When the robot is in need of charging or complete with its cleaning task, it will automatically go home to base and charge. I attached a picture of the filter after running it once: I was so surprised at how dirty the floor was! We have cleaners come once a week and it’s still picked up all this crap from the floor. Will be running cleanings daily, the app lets you schedule them that way. Hopefully it lasts a long time.

Bought a 2nd one. Have had one running for about a year, and now got a 2nd for a different floor of the house. We have 2 Pomeranians, lots of shedding and hair. Picks it all up with ease. I like the off-limit mapping feature – cordoned off an area that always gets hung up, and works great. Upgraded from a $150 robot, and this was definitely worth the money. The laser mapping, and smarter cleaning route is very good

UPDATED review!
In the app there’s a link to support from a Facebook group that you have to join. I wouldn’t suggest that as much as I would suggest emailing the company via your Amazon order… emailing was REALLY fast support and very quick to respond. The company rep emailed me and I explained all the problems and she spoke with the tech guys and they thought it was a problem with a faulty battery since I had noticed it going from %32 charge to %1 and dying where it was. Not to mention I would charge it and in 1 minute time, it would be charged to 30%.
Anyway… they offered to send out a new battery the same day and push a firmware update to the vacuum once I gave them the serial number. Between the firmware update and the new battery that was easier to install than I would have expected, it’s GREAT! Very thankful the company was so quick to help because I was about to send it back. I can totally understand that not every battery is perfect and sometimes there’s a bad one in the batch. Started using it with the new battery and firmware this afternoon and it’s currently working on cleaning the house perfectly! I guess since I pulled the battery, it seems to be learning the house again… but it’s returned to the dock and charged itself and not gone offline or missing 1 time.
Original Review
The bad outweighs the good. I got it, connected to the home wifi mesh network that’s so strong, I can surf the web 4 houses away. Started it and it crashed 3 rooms in. Since it hadn’t mapped the ENTIRE house, I had to start it again. The 2nd time the battery died abruptly and went from %32 to %0 and it just shut off in the middle of room… Unexplained. Charged again and then had to monitor it’s every move and manually return it to charge and manually resume it, but I got the whole house finally mapped. I will say, it did so a great job of cleaning when it did run. Built rooms, no go zones etc. Tried it again and it seemed to be doing great but recharged and resumed and then the 2nd time it went out to finish, it just shut down with a sudden dead battery. It was so drained, it would not turn on again until I carried it back to the charger. Once charged, it didn’t resume, it started all over AGAIN. The battery, even in standard suction mode, can’t do a 1400 square foot house in 2 charges and it’s yet to clean the whole house by recharge and resume without me specifying a set number of certain rooms. On the app, there’s a link to a Facebook help group, but they’ve yet to accept my request so I can get support help. As of now, unless they have a software fix, I will be returning it for a Roomba of Roborock. The point it, carefree automated cleaning… Not, continuously monitoring and manually setting a cleaning, via an app. I left for the weekend, picked up everything and anything that could cause it to stop or get stuck, cleaned it and the filter, everything was perfect! Started it, left the house to clean and where is it???? %54 charged, in my bedroom offline and not cleaning AAAAAAAAAGAIN! If the battery doesn’t abruptly did for no reason, it’s offline and stopped in the middle of a room somewhere. So, when I get home, I get to start it aaaalllllll over again.

I purchased the 360 S8 to help my wife who is OCD about clean our home’s floors. We recently adopted a puppy which, with the constant in and out for potty breaks, has increased the amount of dirt, etc. trafficked in from outside. Setting it up was a breeze. The app interface is very intuitive and doesn’t take a rocket scientist to get it setup. We had a hiccup on the first mapping run (due to our own fault) as it got tangled in a power cord. Make sure you do a good pickup of your home before you run for the first time to do its mapping. Once we ensured everything else was out of the way it mapped our entire downstairs in 2 runs. Running on the higher suction settings definitely eats into the vacuum’s battery but that is expected. It cleaned up our mixed wood floor in the kitchen/dining room and in our carpeted living room. It does not get hung up on floor mats or area carpets. The mapping split the rooms into different sections. It didn’t do them the way the rooms are actually laid out, however after mapping it will allow you to portion off your rooms however you see fit, including separating a room in two if need be. We have not opted to use the mopping feature yet.
Only Negative I saw was that instead of picking up a piece of rice from the floor the sweeper arm kept on batting it out of the way. The science isn’t perfect, but it does a pretty darn good job.
Overall we are very impressed and are hoping it will make a dent in our constant need for sweeping up our kid’s and puppy’s mess.

I tried 4 others before this one. And right away, I was impressed with the quality and smart features it has. I can use my phone app, my smart speaker assistant and or simply the buttons on the robot. It scans the entire room/house as it moves and knows where to start cleaning, yet does not have to guess where to vacuum or randomly rely on bumping into things to turn around.
It will literally start mapping the room as it moves. The cleaning begins working along the first wall until it completes the perimeter. After that it will start to vacuum inside the boundary and it does it in the form of mowing the lawn, that will clean on the first pass and move over to the next line. Super smart!
It’s not a random mindless ‘pinball’ robot cleaner like others. It actually uses AI with its LiDAR to see objects and learn how to fit and maneuver through and around objects. You will be impressed by its efficient cleaning methods. And you can see and control what the robot does on the app. There is lots of data and settings for you to play with. The Robot also has a built n speaker to notify you.
Set timers, see the rooms and the exact path it cleaned like GPS. See the health, quality of the brushes and sensor performance to up-keep. Easy to open and take out the container within 5 seconds. It goes to charge itself after every session. I just have nothing but excitement to express on how convenient it is to have.
I’m not sure how it will do on carpet, but it does have a carpet mode built in. I don’t think it’s “super quiet” but comparing to a normal house vacuum, it definitely is quiet. It’s not going to be like a super deep cleaning house vacuum, but for picking up lint, dirt, crumbs and the never ending pet hair… it will do just fine!
So, I always come back to a clean room and saves me time from having to sweep and kick up dust in the air. My future is clean with my new made, I love it! Check out the video

I have waited a month before reviewing to see what issues crop up that I find annoying. In short. I am glad I bought it. I am a bit distressed at how much stuff it continually picks up. I thought after a few runs, it would taper off but it is finding plenty to make me wonder how clean we are, im a little concerned about how well our big vacuum works quite frankly. After the initial run where it maps everything, it really does a great job of cleaning in an efficient manner. We have a larger home and it keeps up just fine with us vacuuming the whole thing 2x a week (over a 6 day period, Sunday it rests 😉 The app is the only thing that keeps this from 5 stars. It works just fine but isnt very intuitive. You can break up the floorplan into rooms and schedule it to clean certain rooms at certain times. You can also choose which room you would like it to clean at any time so it has the main items I wanted, but its quite a few clicks to get it done and not the easiest (you can tell its Chinese). When we went back off of Daylight savings, the robot started an hour earlier on is schedule. I thought the clock didnt move and can not for the life of me find where to adjust the clock. It ended up that the clock moved correctly, it changed all of my start times an hour earlier so I had to go adjust them. Kind of a strange bug but not a huge deal. All in all, it cleans well, laser works wonderful and I find it entertaining to watch how smart it really is. Would I buy it again? Yes without hesitation. I bought it when it was on sale and the price difference between it and the next cheapest laser guided vacuum (which this is the virtual twin of) was substantial so I pulled the trigger. Its worth it at its regular price IMHO.

I have to pick up every random sock or dog toy so this wont get stuck on it.
quiet mode is great for hard floors.
power or max is needed for carpet, but that’s a bit loud and drains the battery fast. but it does a good job.
the unit charges at 20% up to 80% then resumes cleaning, so using it on it’s max setting will take awhile to get a job done. but they do that with the battery to conserve it’s life, so I understand why it’s like that….point is, it needs a bigger battery.
dust bin needs a fine mesh pre-filter. I use a little $50 battery powered blower to clean the filter out
the app is rough, setting up separate rooms is a nightmare, I can’t get it how I want it so i’ve just settled with not being able to separate my living room from my kitchen at this point.
I also can’t get this thing to work with google assistant, again the app is garb.
The voices/speakers are just TERRIBLE. the speaker can’t handle how much volume this company is trying to get out of it, so it’s really distorted and shrill to listen to.
I really don’t want a notification every single time I empty the canister….I’m well aware the damn dust bin has been removed, it’s in my F’n hands.
it works well, does a good job at the cleaning part, but the app needs A LOT of work. like, a ton.

I was able to get a 360 S5 model during the Black Friday sales. I was hesitant about getting a robotic vacuum since I wasn’t sure of my needs. Fortunately a friend had a vacuum with some features that were really handy like using maps in the phone app (as opposed to remote control or physical marking methods) so at least I had one thing I knew I wanted.
Reading online I discovered that there are varying levels of suction power available for each device and since I wanted to use it for carpet I figured a high level of suction was important. Also, I have dense carpet installed (short pile, but dense weave) so a decent amount of dirt and cat hair gets into it – this reinforces my opinion on the suction needed. I aimed for 2600Pa if possible.
With those two things in mind and a concern that I don’t overbuy and end up with an expensive but inadequate device, the S5 sale seemed to be a good fit. The suction I believe is rated at 2200Pa but that has proved to be adequate. The cost was about half of my friends similar device so that made me feel good about not overbuying.
The S5 is nearly perfect for our uses. Although the Amazon page actually DISCOURAGES use with some carpets, I’ve found it perfectly fine on the kind we have. Primarily it keeps our 15x40ft living room clean, but once a week it goes into the kitchen to tidy up. I setup the cleaning as areas: MWF it cleans the entire living room in about 15 minutes. TTh it cleans the most active area of the living room in about 10 minutes. Sat/Sun it cleans the less active area of the living room in about 5 minutes.
All of the schedules run at “MAX” mode — highest suction. The app and manual make it very clear that high-suction mode will drain the battery quickly, but for the schedules I have this is not an issue. After the 15 minute schedule there typically is about 50% battery power left, and the highest suction allows the carpet to get very clean. The first time it ran the filter got quite filled up, but since then I clean or replace the filter about every five days without a problem.
The only downside to the product seems to be the lack of an included replacement filter. The filters are washable – and you will need to do so – but they need to dry before they can be used again. This means you can’t really have a regular schedule for the robot to automatically follow unless you can put a clean filter in when you remove one. The product should come with two filters, not just one.
I was able to find a reasonably-priced parts kit on Amazon with four filters, four side brushes, and a main brush. The main brush replacement is only so-so but everything else seems fine. I highly recommend buying some replacement filters so you can keep the robot in action.
My only concern now that I’m spoiled with a robotic vacuum is when the battery or a motor inevitably dies. I doubt either is easily replaceable, yet I’m so happy with this product that finding a replacement that provides comparable satisfaction will probably be impossible.

I’m very satisfied with the product as it is exactly the same as the one introduced. I have used it for several times. It can sweep and mop the floor at the same time. That’s the amazing part. Also, the equipment is easy to operate. The functions are simple and practical. Strong suction, low noise, and the floor feels clean after use!

I have liked the vacuum and it has worked well except for battery Issues. I have purchased multiple S5 vacuums for my family members after one for myself. All but one has had battery/runtime issues and required a new battery to correct. The specs list a 90 minute runtime on standard mode. This is only obtainable with the upgraded 3200 mah battery. If your unit still is still shipped with the old 2600mah, you will barely be able to get 55 minutes of runtime. 1/3 less runtime then the 90 minutes claimed by the specs on. All of my units were shipped with the old smaller battery except 1.

Pros:
*suction power is great
*Lower noise at lower suction than others
*Has lidar mapping that actually works with the app, better than on smart home.
*Routing is decent, better than the one on smart home
*Many different Robo voice languages (only 1 per language though)
*Charger works great and it’s very accurate
Cons:
*battery life could be a little better, it barely manages to finish a 1 bedroom apartment, Sometimes it needs to recharge to Finish. After a month, it always recharges.
*App constantly loses wifi connection
*Brush constantly gets tangled in let hair needing to be cleaned (every 3-4 days)
*The dust bin is a bit small and it tends to clog in the center of the bin so it doesn’t always use the full capacity of the bin
*No pre filter so it’s a pain to have to brush out every crevice of the inner filter nearly daily vs just dusting it out in the trash without worry of losing suction power
*Laser is great for mapping, but avoiding things like your legs, pets or toys, water bowls.. It doesn’t work too well there.
*only has 1 side brush, so it doesn’t get everything
*doesn’t have a lidar lower to the ground to help with detection

I happened to run across a reddit post about robot vacuums that led to my purchase of this vacuum and I have to give a big thanks for the people who map out products truthfully.
I love this vacuum. I have a husky German mix dog who sheds all year round and even with his regular grooming, there’s always fur somewhere. This thing gets everything in it’s reach. It’s a little clunky sounding but it has no issues getting over anything like rugs and thresholds if needed.
And to clean it is so easy. Everything easily comes apart and snaps right back into place. This thing has improved my home and life.
The ONLY reason I’m knocking a star off is because their app has kicked me off my account when it updated and won’t let me back in and i have to resync the vacuum again and it’s having issues reading my wifi on the app now. I’m thankful at least the robot remembers the schedule i had for it while i figure out how to fix the stupid app needed to run this thing.
Please fix your app. This is silly and I shouldn’t have to fight with multiple error messages just to reset my app after an update only to find it won’t connect to my wifi anymore.

This is actually a great vac – my 2nd one. I can deal without that teenage cute voice manufacturer chose to use for alerts. Who needs to hear that ‘cleaning makes me happy?’ If you can get past this – it works and works well. All parts are interchangeable with other knockoffs with no name. It serves a purpose and I would even say – works well. But if you look at the pictures, opening the item can be challenging. Don’t cut off the warranty void seals – you’ll have to work around it – like I I did. Crazy.

This was my first time buying a robot vacuum. I didn’t want to pay the price for the bigger name brands before I even knew how I would like it.
I have a very small home, tight quarters, and furniture pushed up against nearly every wall. I also have 2 dogs and 1 cat so we are very cozy in here!
My biggest concern was how much it would actually be able to get the debris near the edges of the room because of how small of a space I have. But I am IMPRESSED!!! Even a friend came over and mentioned how clean it looked in here after 2 uses.
It does so good getting the bulk of everything leaving less to accumulate in the edges, AND it still does the edges a lot better than I anticipated.
The suction doesn’t seem that strong, but there is never any pet fur on my rug when it is done and looks freshly vacuumed so I know it’s doing an adequate job.
I do have to pick up my cheaper kitchen rug otherwise it gets balled up and stuck, much the same it would a regular vacuum so no complaints there. Just an FYI
I do run it every day and the pet fur in my house is so much more manageable, it feels cleaner, it’s quiet, the pets ignore it, and all in all a great product for the price. I even purchased a 2nd for my boyfriend for Christmas.
Now hopefully it’ll will stand the test of time!

If I know it works so well I would buy it earlier, I purchased this cleaner robot because I have three floor house it is annoying to use vacuum to clean all the floors, so instead I used a robot to clean the second floor. It is amazing that It can scan and auto draw a map for my house and we can also tell robot which place not to clean, and it is really quiet you can hardly hear it.

You have to say this is a good vacuum I love the 3-D mapping and for the price love it cleaning capabilities Navigation are terrific mopping great when it comes to tank size and the amount of water I put out there is a downside to this vacuum and it’s so much so that I’m debating on returning it the squeegee blade attached to the brush roll guard is stiff so it drags along hard floor surfaces causing it to make loud noises dragging it does become really annoying other than that so far so good and I have to say I had my doubts when submitting my order for this vacuum because I’ve never heard of this brand before and I have only used Neato Roborock And deebot

I had a different brand vacuum robot, for a few days. That one had only SLAM mapping, grossly inadequate. This +360 S5 has LIDAR mapping and is much, much better. The first one had stronger suction (pickup up more), but this one is adequate. Over all, I like the S5 a lot. It does accurate mapping, and an adequate job of cleaning. FYI, other +360 models have more suction. And mops. I’m not interested in mops, over 90% of my apartment is carpet, and it sweeps the tile, anyway.
There are a couple minor things, which I suspect are behaviors inherent to the machine. And I do mean minor. It, always requires several tries to dock, but always succeeds. One day bright sun was shining in the window, and included a linear shadow down the middle of the bright area on the floor. The shadow fooled the edge/drop-off sensors, and it would not clean past/through the shadow.
Keep in mind that you must prepare your place for robotic vacuuming. Be sure it can’t “get to” any wires. I put the chairs on the table, so it can sweep under. And I pick up everything I can — it will skip areas where it “sees” or bumps into things. It does a good job of getting under the bed, futon, and several wire-shelf units – an improvement over hand vacuuming. It figures out the legs, for the furniture it can get under, and sweeps everything else. Nice. The dust bin is small, but that is common with robots. I empty it every use, as part of the preparation for each use. I also want to see how much it picked up, and it if “got” anything “unexpected”. Also be aware that all robot vacuums require brush and filter replacements – think $15 +/- per year.
In spite of my general enthusiasm for the design and features of the S5, I returned it. It did very well, at first. But, apparently something broke. It started with occasional “server connection” errors – I think it “had a stroke”. And it started wanting me to clean the anti-drop sensors, a lot. It became erratic in mapping and cleaning patterns. It skipped areas (as much as 12% of my apartment), and went over other areas repeatedly. It occasionally “detected” something that is not there, and went around it, like an (invisible) furniture leg. I Tried, for a long time, to figure out if I could make it work reliably. I experimented with every setting and option. It did better (but still not right) if all maps were erased, “Rebuild Map” was selected, and the unit reset (press the reset button) prior to every use. Not keeping any maps defeats some of the features related to saving, and editing maps. This was not important to me, since I have a single story apartment. It often won’t properly figure out the bathroom. It goes in and out of the bath repeated, goes back and forth and spins itself (sensing?) repeatedly, and ends up missing small spots anyway. The bathroom has a THICK bath mat, which apparently bothers the movement, and thereby possibly affects the sensing. The bath is also small, and (just guessing) the porcelain/enameled fixtures might fool the sensors (reflect the signal around, thus producing “confusing” readings). All these “glitches” make it easy to guess that one or more sensors experience “lapses”, producing erratic behavior in the mapping, and cleaning patterns.
I am presuming that the problems I had were with my specific unit, and not common to “the breed”. I intend to acquire their new, top-of-the-line, S10, which is expected to be released in a couple months. In the meanwhile, I’ll just need to vacuum – the old fashioned way.

Ran both this (S5) and the S8 in my home to test to make sure these vacs would be fit for giving to my 91 yr old grandfather.
Its battery life is somewhat lacking with it really only managing for 35-40 minutes on the standard-powerful suction cycle. takes a bit to charge but that’s fine.
The device has been fantastic overall.

While easy to use, problems inevitably arise, which is why the PROMPT customer service by email is the most important feature of this product. Currently amazon-us@360.cn
This is a Roborock S4 made by the same company, Xiaomi. The color-scheme of the Roborock software is aesthetically more pleasing but is otherwise identical.
I’ve encountered a communications problem rendering the robot unusable which I reported (see photo) and they had the App send a Log-File and the problem was resolved within 24 hours.
I’ve asked to keep the S5 suction off, and thus the vacuum noise, as the S5 moves back and forth between its charger the rooms it is cleaning, often at the other end of the house and they have taken steps to solve this problem in the software. Softer wheels might be quieter, but at 55 db on Quiet Mode it’s pretty quiet for a vacuum.
The application has begun to see closed doors it passes and later declares it can’t reach the back of the house – it won’t even attempt to go there if it’s previously seen the hallway door closed. My temporary resolution is to choose an earlier map from “Multi-Storey Management” when the door was open. Based on my customer service so far, I suspect the manufacturer will improve this issue as well.
Virtual walls drawn with your finger on the map in the software deal easily with your preferred routes. We have it clean the front of the house on the non-recommended “Max Power” setting at 3 am with two doors between us and the L5 and we sleep perfectly.
I’ve shown the housekeeper how to clean out the dust hopper and she concentrates on less routine chores.
