This was my first time buying anything with Amazon Renew. It’s certified refurbished by iRobot, not Amazon directly. I’m extremely impressed. The vacuum and base arrived in top notch packaging (not the original box or anything, just cardboard but securely packaged). Both the cleaning base and robot look brand new. Not a scratch or mark on either despite the warning that that might be the case. Maybe I just got really lucky but it’s definitely encouraging for the Amazon Renew label. I’m also confident in the 90 day test window. I know if anything goes wrong or I’m not pleased with the quality or performance I can just return it no questions asked.
So far I’m very impressed with the strength of the i7 for pet hair specifically (I have two German shepherds). The mapping features are extremely cool. The first few cleans took a long time because it was figuring out the space, but once your house is mapped (and it can do multiple floors!) you can direct the i7 to clean specific rooms on specific days. My bedroom doesn’t need to be cleaned as often as my living room, so this just helps make the bag in the cleaning base last longer. The i7 empties itself into the base every time it docks, and while it’s pretty loud, it’s about the same noise level as a traditional upright vacuum but only lasts for like 20 seconds. The noise of the i7 while it’s cleaning is surprisingly quiet. Way more quiet than my Dyson stick on its lowest setting. It’s so quiet that I plan on scheduling the i7 to clean in the middle of the night while I’m sleeping. About the same noise level as my Dyson air purifier on its mid-high setting and I sleep with that on every night.
I’m curious to see how long the bag in the cleaning base lasts because for around $5 per bag, I could see them adding up very quickly over a year. My dogs shed a lot so it could get expensive very fast. That’s really the biggest downside to the cleaning base. I wouldn’t buy a Roomba without the base because I’d have to empty the tiny canister like twice a day.
Overall I love the i7+ and would highly recommend buying it with Amazon Renew. I got it for $530. I would never pay $800+ for it brand new, but the refurbished price was a much easier pill to swallow for my first robot vacuum.

So far the house is incredibly clean! It was actually fun to do the setup and wait as it mapped our house.
All I had to do was install the app!!!! Everything was taken care of by the app, I really could not believe how easy the setup and now the scheduling is.
Now for the problem.
THEY SENT IT WITHOUT A BATTERY, which took me 2 days to figure out!
The app kept telling me that it was not charged. Went to help and support and tried everything. The last thing I wanted to do was re-install the battery! But that was the last thing to try.
Opened it up and no battery. Could not believe it. It gets worse.
Called Amazon and I had to purchase a new battery! They said they would reimburse me, which was not ok but they left me no choice. I never got that refund.
I had to call one more time and finally got my refund! Just a pain!!!!
BUT I WOULD GO THROUGH IT ALL AGAIN TO SEE THE HAPPINESS ON MY WIFES FACE!
She loves her new Roomba! It cleans better than we expected. The mapping is incredible. So easy to define the house and clean wherever, whenever you need to!!!!
It’s like hiring a cleaning service and then you forget about it.
It is well worth the expense and we highly recommend Roomba!
UPDATE!
Glenda “Roomba” has been vacuuming every day for 3 MONTHS! That should tell you everything!
I have done virtually nothing except change the air filter once and change the bag once.
This is incredible, and the house is cleaner than it’s ever been.
Glenda mapped every inch of my house. And I’m amazed how it gets under almost every piece of furniture.
Even after the initial troubles I must change my review to five stars!

LITTLE DIFFICULT TO PROGRAM AT BEGINNING…. WORKS GREAT!!!

Tldr: works really well.
I held out for years on getting an automated vacuum cleaner, thinking that it couldn’t possibly be any good. But now that we have a cat, I decided I did need something to do additional passes between weekly cleanings, however imperfect. I splurged on a slightly nicer model that was advertised to have better suction and mapping.
I guess I had pretty low expectations going into this but it doesn’t change the fact that this thing turned out to be amazing!!! We’ve had it for 3 weeks now. It mapped both floors of our house. I run it daily, alternating spaces. It picks up lots of fluff every single time. The under-the-bed areas of our house have never been cleaner. It’s my best purchase of the recent months by far. I still do a Dyson pass once a week, but it takes me less time and honestly, I think I could do it every other week now. The mapping function is really good, and the ability to customize the maps and schedule jobs is so worth it. I can’t speak for longevity yet. Just hope that it lasts!!!

We received a refurbished model ( I didn’t realize this when I purchased it- my fault for not reading fine print). It was easy to set up with wi go and phone. We have to figure out mapping better. It was having trouble going around room and hallway , tends to get stuck ( and should be able to get around table leg) and we have to pick it up to send home as it can’t seem to find it’s way back to base, which is not too far. We have a ranch , only carpet in living room and hall. We do have a dog that sheds and sometimes the hair is not picked up and we find balled up clumps that we have to pick up after. It is good if we put it in a bedroom with wood floors and gets under the bed. Suction power could be better.

This is my first roomba, and I’m overall pretty impressed. This thing definitely is not quiet though. I don’t know why but I had the false notion that it would be a pretty quiet device, but it’s not. The different chimes it gives at the beginning and end of cleaning can’t be lowered (that I’m aware of), this model doesn’t have “power modes”, so you can’t decrease the suction (and therefore the sound), and while it’s definitely quieter than a traditional vacuum, that’s not saying much.
Still, it’s a very handy helper, and at the discounted price, I think it’s worth the money. Just be careful about wires on the floor though. It’s little brush attachment just loves to get tangled in them.

Vacuuming is a constant battle at our house. I hate doing it, wife hates it, and kids despise it. I finally talked my wife into a Roomba. We originally got the 694 because it was on the cheaper end. It worked! It did a great job of cleaning the floors, but it took forever to vacuum any space because it randomly bumped around like a drunken R2-D2. It did vacuum, but when it was done, the carpets were zig zagged and really didn’t have that freshly vacuumed look
So… We sent it back and upgraded. Since my wife had seen the light, we spent a little more and got the refurbished i7.
At first, it seemed like we had bought the same thing, it spent forever bumping around and mapping our house. I truly wasn’t sure that it was an improvement, but then, like magic, the maps filled in on my app and I could see how it had learned the layout of the house. This little badass was roaming my house, vacuuming dust like crazy, and then alerting me on my phone when it completed a job or whenever it was in trouble
Now, Bertram (that’s what she named it) can be commanded to clean any room in the house (on any of the three floors) and he goes there without our complaint, does a marvelous job, returns to his base. He only leaves behind perfectly striped, dust-free floors. Pretty sure that my wife likes Bertram more than me. This could be an issue. I think I’ve been replaced.

This vacuum does a far better job overall over our several previous “dumb” robotic vacuums. No more random bump and turn mechanics to partially clean areas, this vacuum does a far better job than the old technology. This is actual “smart’er” cleaning. The smartphone app is very useful for setting up areas to avoid as well as individual rooms for custom cleaning jobs. Just an overall huge improvement in cleaning without the continuous hunt for the stopped old vacuum.
There is room for improvement in the software but this shows me a glimpse of what the future can be.

We have purchased other items off of Amazon listed as “Renew” and have never had an issue. Again, no issue here. The item was packaged well but not in original packaging and with no manual. No worries as we have a Roomba 675 and they are easy enough to set up. The one we received had very minor rubbing on the shiny black surfaces and looked like it had never been used and did not come with any extras like filters or virtual wall barriers. If you have the opportunity to buy Renewed item take the chance!!! We spent $370 on this vacuum compared to $550 brand new. I am sure there a few bad items out there that get shipped but that has never been our experience. Even so, just send it back and have them give you a new one.
For this model Roomba (i7) I love the floor mapping feature. It maps your floors and then allows you to define an area for the Roomba to clean. Ours is in our downstairs area with a large kitchen, dining room and living room area. After running only twice, it has pretty much mapped out the entire floor. My old one just ran in a random pattern, but this one strategically works its way around the house. Also when the battery is low, the Roomba knows where it is in relation to the docking station and will navigate straight back even from two rooms away. iRobot has really enhanced the software and coding of these vacuums and I know my Roomba isn’t just working its way over a spot it has cleaned 3 times in the past hour.

I must admit, I was very skeptical when I purchased this refurbished iRobot i7. Not only about it being a “refurbished” item, but the whole idea of an automated vacuum. We found ourselves having to constantly sweep or vacuum inside our back sliding door because of the dog dragging dirt, mulch, leaves into the family room. We have a short haired dog that moderately sheds, the i7 has had no problem picking up the dog hair without clogging. We have wall-to-wall carpet in one room and hardwood/hard surface floors with area rugs in a couple other rooms, the i7 has had no problem transistioning from the hard surface to rug (and back again) and cleaning all of them. It has the ability to “learn” your floor plan and makes a map of it. You can then direct it to vacuum by room(s) or the entire house. You can even identify “problem areas” for it to vacuum more frequently. You can set up a schedule or use the app to run it. It also connects to Google Assistant or Alexa. Through those devices, you can direct it to clean one or more rooms. You can even set up “no go” zones so it doesn’t bump over plants, dog dishes, etc. I included a photo of the floor plan “map” the device made of our first floor. It takes the i7 two entire house vaccuming sessions for it to “learn” and make the map. You then edit the map by delineating and naming the rooms. I set up a couple “no go” zones to protect small potted plants and the dog dishes from being bumped and possible knocked over. After my initial skepticism, I am VERY impressed with this i7 iRobot two weeks into my ownship of it.

****Reviewing Roomba i7 refurbished***: (I’m not paid or incentivized to do this review). A novelty, but certainly not worth the full $500-600, and only worth the refurbished cost of $250 in specific circumstances, or perhaps a well-planned long run.
BOTTOM LINE: This robot is extremely slow, disappointingly stupid, and not as thorough as I would expect.
THE CONS: I can vacuum a 1400 sq. ft. condo in 11 minutes flat with a traditional Hoover battery-powered upright for $120. It takes this robot 90-115 minutes to cover the same space (10-15 times as long), and it does only about 75% of the job that I do. It also can’t move furniture around while it vacuums, like I do when I manually vacuum.
Ultimately, if you don’t pay much for this vacuum, it’s biggest value will be in *automated vacuuming while you’re not around, over a very long term period.* Initially, this thing is a time suck. It takes time to set it up, for it to learn you house, and to work out the kinks. Plus, I spent hours testing it scrupulously to see just how good it really worked. (I also tested the 980 model before this one, but sent it back to get this i7.)
In terms of Roomba i7’s mapping ability, this is nothing remarkable, and while in theory it works well, it suffers from problems. The chief problem is that this thing still gets stuck occasionally (maybe 10% of the time) in the most stupid and inexcusable of ways.
GIVING UP / GETTING STUCK, AND RETURNING HOME UNFINISHED
Example: our Roomba i7 is docked in the dining room where there is a table and six chairs. Even though we move the chairs around (sometimes putting them up on the table for cleaning, and sometimes leaving them down), there is *always* a clean, unobstructed path along the wall for Roomba to get out of the kitchen. However, the stupid robot occasionally (1 in 5 times) “forgets” this fact, and gets itself stuck under the kitchen table, and then returns back to the base and gives up!
Thankfully, it then lets you know that it failed its job (or rather, QUIT!) So, if you were away from home, controlling Roomba by the app on your phone, you could tell it to try again. But WHY? It shouldn’t be so stupid in the first place. And you had to waste time doing what a traditional vacuum could have done BETTER, and in 1/10th the time. (And note: I’m not talking about it getting hung up or stuck on obstacles that shouldn’t be there. I’m talking about it being downright s-t-u-p-i-d.)
I should perhaps suggest that a little firmware or software upgrade could fix this navigation issue, and that would honestly make me feel quite a bit better about the prospects of using the Roomba. But this simply hasn’t been done yet (not that I know anyway), and as such, this thing should be much, much smarter.
REGARDING HAIR: I don’t have pets, but a wife with long hair that sheds like a pet. The Roomba tends to gather up her hair and spit it out into a big fur ball, like a tractor in a field that cuts grass and leaves bails of hay behind. This has now happened at least 5-10 times in the last month. Super annoying.
My traditional Hoover upright (battery-powered) for $120 is 10-20X faster than the Roomba (no exaggeration), much stronger in its suction, and just downright kicks the Roomba’s but in every way. If I’m vacuuming manually with the Hoover, and it doesn’t pick something up one the first or second pass, I just run over it 48 times in 2 seconds, and problem solved. The Roomba has no such intelligence, and ultimately only picks up 75% of what I can do.
REGARDING TIME TO CLEAN: It takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r. If you have a bunch of people, pets, or obstacles moving around in the house, this isn’t for you. As I said, it takes 90-115 minutes to clean my 1400 condo. I literally can do this manually in 11 minutes flat with a Hoover battery-powered.
NOISE LEVEL: First, for all the negatives I’ve said above (and that’s a LOT of negatives above), this thing is remarkably quiet. I started with the Roomba 980, which was way too loud. At first, this Roomba i7 was scarily quiet, and didn’t sound like it was even doing anything (and yes, it was cleaning, not just mapping). This is quiet enough to run while you are on the phone, or sleeping in the bedroom. That’s nice.
CONCLUSION: Where this could be worth the $250 and time to set it up is as (for me) as follows: once you get the hang of it, and it learns your house, set it to run *automatically* when you aren’t home, or when you are asleep. The least amount of thought going into this, the better. It won’t do as good of a job as you can do manually (as I said above), but it will do a decent job. (How do you define decent?) Over a couple months, if you get it into a good rhythm, it can pay off both the money and time it took you to set it up.
After about one month, I’ve let it replace about 30-45 minutes of vacuuming I do every week. Therefore, conservatively speaking, I’d say it will take 2-3 months to really make me happy I bought it. Again, I’m reviewing Amazon refurbished Roomba i7. (And please people: always state what you are reviewing here on Amazon, because Amazon mixes reviews up, and you can’t always trust that what you are reading is for the item you are looking at. Get it fixed, Amazon!)

The rubber brushes on this really grabs deep down dirt. I did a thorough vacuuming with my Dyson before setting the roomba to do its thing. It picked up an embarrassing amount of hair, and continues to do so. It works so much better than our old 600 series.
The mapping feature is perfect! We run it over the carpeted bedrooms while we are home with zero issues. It’s still a bit loud to run over the hardwood when we’re home. But the app makes it a breeze to schedule or create custom jobs to clean specific areas of the house.

I’m glad I had an old phone lying around that I could connect with the 2.4 g wifi since all my other connections are on the 5g network. The connection was flawless the Roomba searched out every room it had access to and did a great job cleaning wood floors, area rugs and deep pile wall to wall carpet. I’ve got this setup to vacuum 3 times a week. It emptied itself and went back to work then found its way home again. It’s a great thing to have in a house with busy people and pets. If it keeps going like it has I’ll have one less worry about cleaning the house.

Suction power reasonably good. Value about right though it’s quite a hefty investment. Picked up about 70% of cat and dog hair. Love the facet that it responds to Google voice control. Love to say “Honey, vacuum the house!” While I paint my nails.

I didn’t buy one! I bough 3! and an Ecovac Deebot T8 Pro. After testing the T8 for about a month, I found it decent, but subpar compared to the i7+. I need to make the comparison to put things in perspective here.
The T8 has 1 brush, and the brush has a combination of rubber and bristles, which is ok, but the rubber works way better and it does not get clogged with hair. The Roomba has two brushes and they are 100% rubber so no clogging. Props for the engineers here. The T8 has a weird compartment to empty the bin. it has two small(er) holes compared to Roomba’s one big hole. The result is that the two holes get clogged with hair as well (I have a dog). Even with the recommendation of YouTube reviewers that state that if you run the bot every day then the clogging stops, I disagree. The hair builds up and eventually, the bot will require manual intervention. The sole purpose of the empty station is to not have to baby sit the bot every time it runs… Again, point for the Roomba engineers here.
The suction, while I couldn’t measure them, I can tell you that the Roomba stopped working because between the suction and the brushes it sucked a metal bolt from a piece of furniture I was assembling. I was impressed that it could pick it up. The T8 didn’t even care for it!
Software wise they both offer the same capabilities, the Ecovac T8 looks a little bit more “android-style”, showing you the map in a more rustic way based on the discovery using the camera. The Roomba’s software looks more iOS style oriented. In other words, Roomba’s app is more polished. One thing I dislike about the Roomba is that it’s cloud connected. I don’t care for it and it makes the connectivity a little less responsive, but at the same time, you get to share maps from your devices which is a plus.
Overall, the price of both devices are very close and I ended up buying 3 i7’s and I’m very happy with them. They run every day and my house has never been cleaner and They require almost no maintenance or baby sitting.
Disclaimers: I have one labrador that sheds a lot of hair, two young kids, and a wife that has long hair and she also loses hair like crazy 😛

We’ve dubbed it Rosie, as in the Jetson’s maid. This vacuum is excellent! Definitely worth purchasing, we’ve had ours for two months now, I don’t miss vacuuming. There’s an app you can schedule it to clean before you wake up of a morning, or before guests come over. I’m sold! I’d buy it again knowing what I know. Especially it emptying itself after every cleaning!

Ahorra tiempo y facilita las tareas del hogar. Hace un mes habia comprado la iRoomba 675 pero compre esta otra porque tiene la ventaja de los “mapas”.

I love that it maps areas & allows you to block off areas. It cleans so well! It maneuvers around furniture and under furniture so well. My lab sheds like crazy and it’s insane how much dog fur it sucks up. I never leave comments or feedback but I am absolutely in love with this roomba.

I have a i3 and I gifted the i7 and it would be the normal sound as mine and then all of a sudden it would get loud!
It’s pretty cool that it maps out the house and individual room, the i3 doesn’t do that. So you can tell it to clean the kitchen once you’ve named the zones.

We use this on the main level of our house- all hardwood floors. It does a fantastic job! Mr Clean does his thing while we are gone and we come home to a clean floor. Definitely recommend for hard surfaces.
