We’v Had an Orick for years. This new Bissell picked up a canister full of dirt and debris from carpets that had just been vacuumed by the Orick. We threw the old vacuum in the trash. We’ve also owned Eurekas and Dysons. This Bissell is by far the best vacuum we’ve ever used. We put it together in under five minutes. You can’t beat the quality for this price. Outstanding! Worked great on tile as well as plush carpet. Moved easily with absolutely no problem and the swivel action is a bonus. If anyone is having trouble pushing this vacuum then they probably haven’t read the easy and simple instructions on adjusting the brushes. It works beautifully!

When I purchased this vacuum, I expected it to be the standard cleaner. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of this vacuum! This machine is an excellent addition to my home cleaning tools. I have used it daily for the past two weeks for the following: vacuuming rugs and tile floors, ceiling dusting, wall dusting, curtain rod dusting, cleaning cat trees, window sill dusting, cleaning under a desk and under furniture, and vacuuming fabric and leather furniture. The suction of this vacuum is very powerful, and the edge-cleaning really works! It is difficult for me to get under furniture to clean, but when I use the crevice tool, I dont have to. The crevice tool focuses this machine’s powerful suction, and I was able to use it to retrieve marbles, pens and pencils, pieces of junk, a computer mouse, papers, staples, kitty litter, etc. Of course, not all of the items went into the vacuum, but the suction was powerful enough to hold the items so I could pull them off the end of the crevice tool. No bending over! Yay! The suction powered pet hair attachment works extremely well on the cat trees and furniture. The vacuum collection tank is very easy to empty and pop back in, ready to use again. The ball-joint swivel makes it easy to get into tight areas, and the long cord helps me to clean more efficiently, so I dont have to stop and swap electrical outlets. I have not owned a vacuum with a cord rewind feature before, and never considered it very important, but what a nice feature! It’s a very efficient and tidy way to store the electric cord. I am very pleased with this vacuum, and would definitely purchase again!

I threw a party for my 5 and 10 year old. 15 kids, all under 10. For some reason I thought popcorn and 18lbs of kinetic sand was going to be a hit. WELL, it WAS and HOLY cow the mess afterwards! I literally left the mess for an entire day because it was so overwhelmingly bad.
Let me start off by saying, THE SUCTION power on this sucker is GODLY. Perfection. It picked up that 18lbs of kinetic sand and 5 bags of popcorn remnants off the entire top floor of my house like it was nobody’s business! I’m not exaggerating, you guys, I have never been so happy about a vacuum purchase in my damn LIFE. Its durable (kids tried using it as a jungle gym and it survived unscathed), it has a crazy good amount of suction, and it’s easier than cake to clean! If you’re looking for the gladiator of vacuums, the Hercules of household cleaners, here it is ladies & gentleman. This Bissell is worth every penny they list it for & more.
Oh, the cons? Yeah, the cons. I wish it was available to buy years ago. I wouldn’t of gone through a metric ton of vacuums. Thank you, Bissell for taking my money. I recommend this vacuum to anyone with kids, animals, or people who think 18lbs of kinetic sand at a birthday party of kids is smart.

This vacuum seems to clean well and has great suction but there is no way to turn off the roller and as you are using the hand tools the roller continues to spin on your carpet. I have a high pile carpet as well as many floor rugs and before I realized this issue the vacuum ruined and frayed my carpet by the roller being in one place while I was using the hand tools and continually spinning. My previous Bissell vacuum had the option of turning the roller on and off. Im not sure why this one does not but for that reason I am giving 3 stars since it ruined my carpet and an area rug. I do like the cord rewind. Im hoping that does not break but so far so good.

I bought this to replace a 20 year old vacuum. I do not have any pets, but the reviews were so good and the price was so affordable, I decided to give it a try. We are a family of four, including 2 teenage boys, so I vacuum several times a week, and so I want something easy, light weight and fast. I found it in this vacuum cleaner. It was super easy to put together and I was so pleased with how powerful it is. They say it takes one pass to pick up everything and it really does! My old vacuum, I had to go over the same area multiple times to pick up everything, but now the time I spend in each room has been cut by more than half! Oh and I don’t have to empty the cylinder after each room anymore! It’s large enough that I can do every room before I empty it, another time saver! I haven’t used all the attachments yet, just one so far, but I don’t forsee any problems, this thing is great! I can’t believe I’m excited about a vacuum cleaner! But I am. It’s a great vacuum cleaner and I’ve already recommended it to a family member looking to buy a new one.

I hardly write reviews but feel products like these actually warrant research. I’ve had a Dyson and recently just had a cheap Dirt Devil. So the best and the worst. This picks up more hair than the Dyson. The Dirt Devil is now dead. I used it for light jobs. The Bissell is not a lighter vacuum but not difficult to push. It picked up so much hair that the Dyson missed. Like I was shocked. I have a cat. Now think everyone should have one of these. See the pic below. This is just from one rug! Really like the cord retracting feature and accessories. Great vacuum for the price. Super happy.

This is an amazing vacuum for the price. Wasn’t sure if it would compare to my previous shark which just quit after five years…but it’s great and half the price. Photos are what I picked up on our second floor bedroom and bonus room/hallway which were vacuumed with the Shark two days ago! We have a 140lb Bullmastiff who sheds like mad, it grabbed the pet hair the Shark left behind but seemed to pull up dirt like we haven’t seen in years. Love the retractable cord.

Pros
– coming off a 10 year old eureka mighty mouse machine, I am pleased with the vaccum performance. It was able to pick up a lot of pet hair and dust from both carpet and hardwood floor
– mostly plastic construction means it is light enough to haul around. It also has slots and holders for all the attachments making it easier to swap on the fly
– I think $20 more for the auto cord retracting feature is worth it. Works quite well and saves a lot of time
– the main body can swivel which makes it easy to handle and maneuver into tight spaces
– it is loud, but was on the bearable side.
– mutliple attachments available to tackle different surfaces.
Cons
– the plastic can feel a bit cheap, especially around the roller housing. This area gets dinged and banged up the most, so I am not 100% sure of the durability
– although the vaccum is easy to set up, I was surprised to see the two pan head screws necessary to secure the handle onto the body. Not a major con but a bit surprising given everything else has snap on capability
– the knob to change cleaning surface setting is at the bottom of the vaccum. Probably a mechanical switch. It would be great to see this knob at the top so that it could be changed as you vaccum, without having to stop.
– the plastic wheels look cheaply made and another durability concern. Will need to revisit this 6 months later to see if everything is still in one piece.

I waited about 3 weeks before the review. I do love this vacumn. I left off a star for loudness. It’s not a quiet one. I actually had to return my first one because it had a loud scream that even my daughter couldn’t take. It was awful! This vacumn isn’t quiet by any means. The “turbo eraser” tool works better than any I have had in the past. It actually lifts the dog hair off and away. Of course, one can’t be heavy handed and expect the tool to continue spinning. The canister is large so I don’t have to empty it as much. Keep in mind, this author has 4 large dogs and a cat. I am very happy with my purchase. Edit to my original review…twice now I’ve had the dog hair gunk up in the belt and make it stop spinning. Minor irritation to how well it works for me i guess. Pictures for this issue.

My wife and I own two long-haired cats, and tried to get away with buying a cheaper vacuum cleaner which burnt out after just a few months. So, we spent a little time doing research into a few different brands and their pet-owner targeted vacuums before settling on this.
Absolutely no regrets. We own a cat tower that stands just over 6ft tall and this does wonders for the tower and carpet alike. Most of the attachments are even useful, unlike most vacuums where they seemingly have little purpose beyond having a wand for spot cleaning. The maneuverability on this thing is so smooth and easy to make use of, and I never knew how much I wanted an automatic cord winder. Real quality of life vacuum.
I will say, however, that between us and the cats, the brush and belt can get stuffed up after two or three months. I just had to take the bottom panel off and cut out a lot of hair that tied itself up inside. However, this is to be expected for longer haired families so I’m only taking one star off from the suction power rating for allowing the hair to build up. But you’ll be hard pressed to find a vacuum more suitable for the task at this price range, and a little preventive maintenance every three months is totally worth the comfort and quality this vacuum brings.
Cmac –
1. The vacuum came pretty much put together. You had the assemble like 5 things. EASY.
2. It has great suction. I don’t have pets, but I personally have long hair, and it gets everywhere.
3. I looked forever for a vacuum and literally just picked one because I was sick of looking. I had a shark upright with canister and rewind cord, prior to this one. The bissel swivels and has extra tools that I honestly never use.
4. I only gave it four stars because the carpet, and thicker carpet functions make it a little hard to push. Maybe I’m weak but it hurt my wrist after vacuuming my main floor. Half tile/half Berber carpet. **after a few more uses, if I could go back, I personally would not purchase, it’s too heavy for me to push. The vacuum does a good job though.
5. The attachments don’t stay on the vacuum, they fall off a lot
**multiple uses later

I have had this vacuum for a little over a month and it has been absolutely amazing. I do not regret my purchase for a second. I have a toddler that makes messes ALL the time and this vacuum has not had a issue handling any of them. Cheerios and yogurt drops are no match here! The only downfall for me is that it is a little bulky carrying up and down the stairs. But that’s a very minor concern to me. The vacuum is very easy to empty and does hold a fair amount. Also at times, the rewinding cable doesn’t always pull the cord completely in. I’ll have to pull it out some and try it again and it works just fine. So that’s just another minute concern. There are a lot of reviews with having issues regarding the belt. This is the first belt driven vacuum I’ve had in years. While I have not had any issues with my belt yet, I’m sure it will come. No belts last forever. As a kid I remember having to get belts and bags. So I consider that a minute concern. Really even with the bulkiness, they used to weigh a ton lol. Anyway, the best recommendation I could make is buy some spare belts in advance. The ones I purchased are:
KEEPOW 4 Pack Belts Replacement for Bissell Vacuum Style 7 9 10 12 14 Belts 3031120
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y3S2JQT/ref=cm_sw_r_wa_apa_fabc_NZN85NWREZG1RJKWEDBN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I also would highly recommend the BISSELL Febreze Style 1214 Cleanview & PowerGlide Pet Replacement Filter – 12141. I used the vacuum without it and the next day I put it in and it has a very pleasant and fresh smell that the vacuum blows out into the room. It’s more of a personal preference really. The link for the ones I ordered is:

Hope this review helps eliminate some skepticism you may have, but everyone may have different experiences.

I may be biased, but I love Bissell products because of how they’re made.
We have three animals; two cats and a golden retriever. All shed like crazy, most of the year. I purchased this because I had another Bissel vacuum years ago that only went out because I lent to one of my friends to clean up diatomaceous earth from a flea kill and they didn’t empty the tank often enough, so it ruined the machine. And, her roommate vacuumed up a bunch of random crap that was embedded in her carpet from her poor attempts at crafting (I’m still bitter about her ruining my precious). Anyway, this one, I used to vacuum up my significant other’s hair from the bathroom after we chopped off most of his hair. It picked all of it up. It sucked up a piece of film from some bathroom product and wasn’t suctioning for a few moments but it sucked it through. It’s dealing with all the rest of the pet hair very well and the entryway to our ranch house very well.
And, this has a rewindable cord. That is 100% worth the extra money. I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand when cords are just hung on a vacuum poorly but I also hate winding them up, even though I do it because I hate dealing with a tangled cord.
Another big thing: it gets right to the edge. It’ll suction up all that junk in the corner of your room, no problem.

I just bought my second one for parents. EVERYONE who has borrowed the first one are used when I was hurt to help me are getting rid of there extremely expensive ones and buying this. My parents are getting this delivered tomorrow and saling there expensive ones with attachments. So are my friends. One of my nurses said she was pissed I didn’t let her know before she bought her expensive one. I have already had 7 friends, colleagues and family that used it while I was injured already bought one. They ALL said this is much better than there’s. I agree I have used DYSON, KIRBY, RAINBOW right before this one to compare and this one picks up after them even going over them twice with there’s first. I am in total shock.

There are 2 high-shedding dogs in my family. For about the last year and a half, we have been using the Shark Rocket pet vacuum that we received as a wedding gift. I noticed it wasn’t working very well and clogged often, so I took a chance and bought this Bissell as a Black Friday present to myself. I am SO glad I did! In the first use, it picked up dog hair so well and got up so much more dust and junk from my floors than I’m guessing my Shark ever did. The canister was very easy to remove and clean out and the “cord rewind” feature is very cool. Yes, it’s bigger and heavier than the Shark, but it’s so worth it – I don’t think I’ll ever get another stick vacuum again. Goodbye Shark, hellooooo Bissell!

I bought this to replace a vacuum that died. We have a dog with medium length hair that gets everywhere so we needed a vacuum that could handle it. I have used this for around a year now.
The suction power of this vacuum is wonderful! There isn’t much it will leave behind. I’ve used it on both carpet and hardwood floors with overall positive results. I had a somewhat harder time on carpet because the dog hair would get tangled in the belt (it gets through the belt cover easily). It smelled like burning (and it was!) The dog hair had completely clogged the belt compartment. Frustrating, considering it is a pet vacuum, meant for picking up pet hair! However, once a month I would remove the belt cover and clean it out. No problems since. Takes about 5 minutes and its back in business. Is it worth the extra work? I think so. The rest of the vacuum functions very well and now I use it on hardwood floors only with no problems at all.
Maneuverability is great (it swivels) and the tools are overall nice (the pet hair attachment doesn’t work as well as just using the attached hose, btw). Cannisters and filters are easily cleanable. Love the tiny details like the side brushes to pull dust and debris out from the walls as you vacuum.
THE CORD REWIND feature is the best part to me. I’ve had this feature on many vacuums and they either didn’t pull the cord all the way in or they’d lose winding strength over time. This is the first vacuum I’ve had where the cord retracts 100% every time!
I would recommend this vacuum. If you have thick carpet and a long-haired dog you may need to watch the belt for hair accumulation. Otherwise it is a wonderful purchase!
Lluau –
I bought this two years ago. It was a nice step up from my old Hoover. As time has gone by, I have grown dissatisfied to the point that I just replaced it with a Shark. First of all, I have one domestic shorthair cat. Half of our floors are wall to wall carpet, half hardwood with area rugs. The vacuum is great on area rugs. You can’t stop the brush for hardwood so I usually have to use my small canister vacuum for those. With summer humidity, I have to use the highest setting to get the vacuum to work on my carpet. Then I’m not sure it’s really cleaning below the surface. The accessories work well but the friction fit is aggravating. Things come apart.
Cleaning the unit: I have rotated clean foam filters, keeping the canister clean as instructed. As time went by, everytime I turned on the vacuum, I would get the “red” indicator. Meaning time to clean everything AGAIN. This involves using my hands or a screwdriver to pull down debris that gets stuck at the top of the canister. There is no clog, I check for that. Now I have dust spewing out and I wonder if the gasket at the bottom of the canister is shot. I also wonder if, over time, the fine dust combined with water cleaning turns into a clogging factor inside the filter. I don’t recommend this product.
Darrell James –
On the first use, it sucked up TWO INCHES of gray powder, which I assume is dirt, dust, and dander!
Mind you, I was already using a good vacuum.
I bought this for pet hair. It picked up the pet hair with ease, and it never clogged or jammed.
Overall, this is a great vacuum.
UPDATE:
Two years later this is still a fantastic vacuum for dog hair. I now live with four dogs, three of them heavy shedders. I read the negative reviews, and I have to think they either got a lemon or they don’t know how to keep it clean. Read the directions. I paid $109 for mine, and I would pay twice that again. It’s an excellent vacuum.

I am a hardcore DYSON lover. After having to move suddenly, my DYSON was left behind until I can transport it. Horrible. Enter this beast of a vacuum. I was blown away. It really gets the job done. No scattering of debris, great suction power, the hair tool is AMAZING. Easy to empty as well. The filter is washable and dries quickly. The retractable chord is a great feature and saves me a battle. And if you have chronic pain this is such an easy vacuum to maneuver and handle (for me at least). Every purchase helps a pet in need as well and that’s a huge plus!
Abigail Bray –
This has been the best vacuum I have ever owned or operated.
Pros:
1. The wind up power cord makes this vacuum so easy to put away.
2. It’s pretty easy to manage. It feels large enough to do a heavy duty job but light enough to easily move around. (dont have stairs in my house so not sure how easy it would be to maneuver up and down)
3. It’s easy to clean out. I’ve had this for almost a year and just the other day finally took it apart and washed all the removable parts. This is the first vacuum I have ever owned that doesnt get hair and fur all wrapped up in the brush and need to be cleaned weekly. Even after almost a year and constantly checking the brush there was very little hair wrapped around the brush. This is by far the thing I love most about it!
The suction power is average.
Cons.
1. The hose is a bit short and makes it difficult to clean edges and corners without having the vacuum kinda in your way.
2. The power cord comes out from the right of the vacuum. Now this is only a problem for a right handed person. It just seems difficult to handle the vacuum with my right hand while the power cord is always crossing paths to my left hand trying to keep it out of the way.
Overall:
I have owned two shark vacuums in the past and both suction hoses on those started to crack and split within a year. But they were lightweight and easily maneuverable. I grew up with my mom’s Kirby (the old bagged kind with all the attachments even a carpet steamer/cleaner). The suction on that was unbeatable, but it was so heavy and big.
I feel this Bissell is the best of both worlds. Good suction and attachments, but lightweight.
Such a good buy I went and ordered another Bissell for my Nephew when he needed a vacuum.
Would recommend this product.
jerryAmazon Customer –
I mostly like it, it has really good suction, brings my carpet “back to life!” It is a little hard on the wrist though! My left hand is learning to vaccuum to give the right one a rest!! I’m pretty sure it’s the swivel function, because my last Bissel didn’t make my wrist nearly as sore and didn’t have the swivel function!! And, also, it is a bit heavy and hard to push. If I had it to buy again, I probably would’ve picked out a lighter one, and maybe not the swivel type!! It takes a while and quite a few uses to actually form a good opinion of a new vaccuum cleaner!!
I also had an EXTREMELY HARD TIME GETTING IT OUT OF THE BOX, and no one else was here to help, was kind of a funny sight, it wouldn’t come out OR go back IN!!! So, LATER, I REALLY didn’t want to FIGHT it back INTO THAT BOX, EVEN WITH HELP!!! (I did keep the box for quite a while though, “just in case!”) But, I finally decided I can put up with a sore wrist, maybe just vaccuuming 1/2 of the house at a time or something! All in all, and for someone with stronger wrists, it’s a pretty good vaccuum!!!

I purchased this vacuum along with the handheld. I find that the vacuum is easy to operate. I love the attachments! The brush attachment is the best for getting dust and lint from anywhere especially great to clean vents and fans. The crevice tool it much longer than the ones I’ve used in the past and is great to get cobwebs and fur in tight deep spots. The rewind feature is a bonus! So much better than wrapping a cord up! The one thing I am not fond of is that you can’t turn the belt off when using the tools. I have already gotten to close to stuff with the vacuum while using the tool and not watching where it had moved to. I have almost burnt the belt out from it trying to suck up a sock and jamming. The canister is really nice. The ones i’ve had in the past have always gotten hair stuck around the filter. This one everything gets spun into a cluster and stays in the bottom of the canister. Very easy to unclip, empty, and put back in place.

You know you’re an “adult” when you get excited about a vacuum cleaner! I was practically a salesman for the thing when showing my husband all of the attachments it comes with, ha! This vacuum has changed my life, it is a cleaning beast! And it’s not too bulky. Super easy to clean out and the suction is superb! I have two fur babies and am constantly using those sticky rolls to clean the hair off of the couch/chairs. With this vacuum I use the pet attachment and it takes the hair right off! It’s the most I’ve ever payed for a vacuum but honestly it’s worth it! Heck of a lot cheaper than some of the other brands, that’s for sure. It works extremely well! Only down side is it didn’t come with instructions but you really don’t need them for assembly, it’s pretty simple to figure out what goes where.
Justin Lomeli –
My wife and I had a vacuum that is claimed to never lose suction – ever. Let me tell ya, that thing lost suction, so the hunt began for a vacuum that wouldn’t break the bank but would be durable and clean how we needed it to. It was actually by accident that we found this one and figured for the price, it was a safe choice.
Having used it several times now, I will say it is incredible! I’m a sucker (no pun intended) for the lines vacuums leave on carpet and this one leaves some nice lines and cleans very well.
I would put this vacuum against any other one on the market and put my money on this one. So glad we made the decision to purchase this vacuum!
ATownMom –
Winding up the chord when your done vacuuming is such a pain in the arse! If you say you never get tired of doing that you’re fibbing! With a push of a button, it’s done, yep it’s that easy! The swivel head is great and makes the vacuum easy to maneuver. the easy empty push of a button canister is easy to remove, empty and replace in a snap! Its clear so you can see all the dirt, sand, hair and or debris sucked up with ease. I love that its bagless! That Turbo eraser hand held part… WOW, just wow, I sucked up so much hair and it did not tangle… at All!! I love my New Bissell Vacuum.

This is the first corded vacuum I’ve ever bought. I bought a cordless one before this and it was absolutely horrid so I returned it and tried this instead. I don’t have much else to compare it to but so far it’s been an excellent purchase. These two pictures were on the lowest setting and only half of the house vacuumed. For reference, I have two cats so it’s picking up all their hair, my hair, and cat litter/dust! It’s so powerful, I can’t even use it on my runner rug in the hall, I have to use the hose attachment in that, otherwise itsucks the rug off the ground so forcefully, that I can’t even run the vacuum back and forth.
My only complaint is that my own hair gets stuck in the rollers so I have to pull that out by hand as it never reaches the dustbin part. Also the side that the rubber hose attaches to the rollers doesn’t have much brush part on that side so there’s a good chunk on that side that doesn’t ‘brush the rug’ every pass.
Other than that, this vacuum has very clear instructions on how to clean it, including removal of the brush roll to get my own hair out of it, as well as how to replace parts like the rubber hose.
I have no comments about stairs as I don’t have any, the vacuum isn’t too heavy to me tho, I didn’t care much for the triangle hose attachment, I tried on a part of my couch my cat really ‘haired’ up and it did poorly, so maybe it works better on the floor. The regular hose attachment worked perfect on the couch tho. This vacuum is also not as loud as I expected for how powerful it is.
