I bought this vacuum about a month ago, so my review is just based on initial reactions. I had originally gotten a Bissell in November, and three months later the plastic portion that makes the cord “rewind” completely ripped off after it hit my bed frame. Next, I ordered a Shark because I skimmed the reviews and saw that they were mainly good…until I dug deeper, and most of the negative reviews were from people who owned the vacuum for an extended period of time. Not a good sign…I returned the Shark before even opening it. So I ordered this Hoover, despite the lack of reviews, in hopes that something assembled in the USA might have better luck. I know it’s supposed to be for “commercial use,” but I’ve been using it in my home.
Pros:
-Two power settings
-Seems to suck things up well, especially when set on the higher of the two settings
-I also like that it has “bare floor” and “heavy traffic” settings.
-Nice, long cord that extends through the majority of my home.
-Bags…I don’t know if I trust bagless vacuums anymore. I recently bought ten bags for $19 from Hoover’s website.
-Assembled in the USA = durability? I’m assuming the parts were still made in China, though.
-Pretty quiet on the lower setting
Cons:
-Heavy! I don’t know if this is a sign that I need to some more upper-body training, but this vacuum gives my arms a workout pushing it! Our carpet is rather thick, though, which could contribute to this. Putting the vacuum on the lower setting helps. I can foresee that my fiance may be doing much of the vacuuming in the future.
-All parts are plastic. I know this is how most stuff is made now days, but it does make me question its long-term durability.
I will try and add more info. as time goes on.
EDIT AFTER EIGHT MONTHS OF USE: Still going strong and we have only had to replace the bag once so far, and we use it 1 or 2 times a week in our 4 bedroom house. It’s still heavy to use so it’s a workout for me to push it through the house but my husband doesn’t mind it.

I was nervous about buying this product because I have never used it. I’ve used the proteam and lindhause upright vacuums. They are both great vacuums but they really lack suction and they can be so hard to work on when they get plugged up. I’ve been looking for a replacement for both and I think we have found the vacuum. It has GREAT suction, glides over rugs, plastic floor map so easily. I can’t get over how much suction it has for a clean air upright. I’m very impressed. The hose is a little short but for what we will use it for it’s just enough. It is a little on the heavy side but it’s not hard to push. Haven’t been able to find anyone online that sells the bags, hoping that changes in the near future. Looking forward to using it longer to see how it works long term, if it goes well I’ll be buying more. If your tired of mediocre suction or the old school sanitaire vacuums try this vacuum. Definitely worth considering and buying.

I have worked in the vacuum industry for a number of years and recently moved onto a retail environment. I had my eye on this vacuum for quite a while and upon getting to my new job knew that I needed to replace to beat up and abused Oreck XL commercial vacuum that was previously being used. We now use this in conjunction with a large hoover conquest to vacuum 20,000 square feet of retail space with all commercial grade carpet tiles. Before I purchased this I checked availability of replacement parts since If I recall correctly this vacuum is discontinued by Hoover. There are still a number of parts available, particularly the consumables such as filters, belts, brush rollers, bags, handles, etc.
We have used this vacuum for about a month and we like it. It is used by many part time teenagers who don’t necessarily care about being careful with the use of equipment such as this, and it has held up very well to wreckless use. The plastic body is good quality and does not scuff or scratch easily so it still looks almost new. The front bumper is very large and prevents damage to the unit and to the object it gets bumped into. The extension cord it comes with is a high visibility 40′ cord which is very good quality although I thought it came with a 50′ cord when I bought it. The hush mode is great for us as we have to vacuum with customers in the store regularly and as a customer, I cannot stand trying to focus on looking at merchandise when someone is trying to vacuum with the typically loud commercial vacuum. We keep it on boost and when a customer comes close to us we set it to hush mode and we are easily able to talk to the customer over the sound of the vacuum. The hose is a decent length and the tools it comes with are great. There were a few concerns I had with the vacuum before I bought it and used it and those concerns were quickly not a factor when I began using the machine. The first was the bag system. It uses a bag system that is very close to Hoovers residential T-Series Windtunnel in which you place the bag into the bag door and not directly onto an inlet within the bag compartment. I have worked on several of these other models which always seemed to have leaky bag connections so dust was a common issue within the bag compartment (which I don’t like because that means that dust is entering the motor which decreases its life span). This vacuum does not have that issue (We only use the yellow allergen bags, I’d imagine it is different with the standard single ply white bags). The rubber gasket on the bags plays a huge role in this. My other concern was that the handle would be loose over time or have play in it as it is not screwed in but held in with a latch mechanism. Once I installed the handle after getting the vacuum, I realized how tightly the handle is held in so I cannot see that coming loose any time soon. My only true complaint with this vacuum is the rubber/plastic squeegee strip behind the brush roll. We have to keep ours set to the hi traffic carpet height as the commercial carpet setting is too high (it could be because our carpet is very matted down and worn out in places), but at the hi traffic height, the rubber squeegee strip which makes for better use on hard floors, touches the carpet and makes it heavy to push. You can feel the strip move back and forth as you move the vacuum and if you have the vacuum angled too high it sometimes gets stuck and you have to lower the handle to move it again (i’m not sure of a better way to explain this). That mixed with a heavy handle weight makes it somewhat of a workout to vacuum this large store (for comparison our hoover conquest is heavier but much easier to vacuum with because of the lower handle weight and the lack of the squeegee strip. Now onto some pro’s and con’s to wrap this up:
Pros
-Good quality construction overall
-Can handle a lot of use
-Efficient dust filtering when using allergen bags
-permanent belt system
-Consumable part availability
-Attachments and hose which is not common on commercial vacuums
-Quiet even on boost mode
-Excellent suction
-Low side profile for getting under retail shelving
-Can lower down to the floor without having to press handle release a second time (many vacuums have a notch when you reach 45 degrees or so in which you need to press the handle release again to get it to lower any further
-Can remove the lower blow molded nozzle hose to check for clogs very easily, same with the main hose
-Pigtail cord system which I’ve found to be essential in commercial use for easy replacing of the cord
-Tool free access to repair any part of the vacuum
Cons
-Bags are expensive, particularly allergen bags and not always easy to find
-Heavy Handle Weight
-No additional extension wand/no telescopic extension on the existing wand
-Foam gasket between hose and the extension wand (I never like foam gaskets that are held on with adhesive from my experience fixing vacuums, but this seems to be the only foam gasket on the unit held in with glue
-Only three real carpet height settings, would be useful to have more height settings
-The elbow where the hose meets the back of the body towards the bag inlet is not clear on these newer models as the pictures show, it would be nice to have it clear to check for obstructions
-The bottom cord wrap has a quick release function where you rotate it out of the way to remove the cord (similar to windsor/sebo vacuums) but this has never been easy to rotate with a cord wrapped around it so we just wrap the cord around our arm and hang it on the top hook as opposed to wrapping it around both

Bought this to replace our 10 year old Kenmore. We looked at a number of higher end models as replacements primarily Miele, Ricarr and Simplicity brands. This was after looking at our go-to of Costco where every vacuum was a swivel head and had a vast majority of parts and components made from plastic and super narrow cleaning heads and eclectic trendy color combinations, loaded with useless gizmos. We have friend in the U.K. who lives by the Dyson factory who warned us to never buy a Dyson despite how nifty they look. We have almost 3500 sq feet of carpet which I vacuum every other day, narrow plastic vacuum heads just won’t cut it. Trendy tools not needed, but good air filtration, HEPA filters and a metal bar at the front of the vacuum to prevent damage from sucking in harmful stuff was key. We don’t have pets so pet hair management is not a must. For some reason I’m not a fan of the swivel head styles because it puts the pressure of the vacuum head on your wrist when you maneuver the vacuum and with our amount of carpet that’s a problem. This vacuum was just perfect. Priced right, super long cord, wide brush (15 inches) and the upgraded never break band, and very quiet. It does have a removable wand for tight spaces or furniture and some basic tools- not sexy but functional. It’s bagged which helps with suction and air particulate management. It’s literally ready to go out of the box with no tools. This vacuum provides comparable cleaning and quality parts to the Ricarr and Simplicity at about half the price. Have had it for about 4 months and am very happy. Would highly recommend.

Cons: Only slightly quieter than it’s competitors. Relatively heavy. No way to turn off rollers, may not be suitable for more delicate flooring.
Pros: Picks up just about everything (small and large debris), great for cleaning large areas, parts are easy to replace, seems pretty sturdy, HEPA filter is great, leaves nice vacuum lines on carpet, built in storage for attachments is nice too.
Overall I’m very happy with this vacuum, and think it’s great for most commercial settings and professional cleaners. It’s a bit more cumbersome than I’d recommend for regular household cleaning. If you’re just looking to clean your house once a week this is probably overkill unless you have a massive house you’re probably better off with a Shark or a Dyson.

This is a first impressions review: We’ve had this for a week at my business. We like the two speed motor. The low speed motor noise is low but not super quiet. It is less than other vacuums though. The high speed setting is less or close to the “normal” vacuum noise level. The unit feels heavy duty, not cheap. The bag is bigger than the Y size we were using with our last hunk of junk, so changes will be less often hopefully. We love the unique cord. It comes with a pretty long cord but if you choose, you can swap out a shorter or longer cord because the machine has a plug on it. I’ve never seen that before. We purchased the wide model and love that it makes the job go faster. Finally, the suction is strong. With the winter sand and bits coming in the front door like crazy now, this machine is picking it all up. A+ marks for suction.

I bought this for home use. All the home vacuums seem more concerned with color and style over substance. The plastics and accessories are flimsy and trouble prone. I’ve got an old Hoover that is built like a tank but I like to have a vacuum on each floor so I don’t have to carry them up and down stairs. My 2nd floor vacuum was much less satisfactory and finally quit altogether. I looked at a lot of different vacuums then found this one. It’s exactly what I needed, who cares if it’s not stylish? No one but me will ever see it. Seems very sturdy, very little assembly needed. I can vacuum the entire 2nd floor without moving the plug thanks to the 40′ cord. All my rooms have hardwood floors and rugs and I’m able to move on and off the rugs without having to change a thing.

This is a top shelf vacuum. It is certainly built to go the distance and all the parts that will wear on it are designed to be repaired and put back into service. We bought this for our home, and after two sharks, it was time we stopped spending money over and over. This vacuum will last for years and years. Everyone these days seems to be turned off by bags but at the end of the day, a bag just has more pros than cons, even considering you need to buy a 10 pack of bags for $20 bucks per year. Bags will literally take less than one minute to change.
It did include a 50ft high quality extension cord with the vacuum. The vac itself only has a 1ft cord which you connect to the provided extension cord.
I ran our tired shark over the floor a few times, then ran this new one. The bag after a few pases over the same area had a lot of very fine particulate that the shark did not appear to remove. Not a truly scientific comparison but the new Hoover seems to get more fine particulate because of better brushroll and cleaning head design. It is also American made, which is nice too.

Finally, a vacuum we can use at home that will stand up to regular use in a very busy house. Been through too many cheap vacuums that easily break down, don’t work from the beginning, or are nearly impossible to get to filters and bags to replace them. Everything that’s detachable or replaceable is color-coded. Very easy to take out of the box. Assembly is a snap and requires no tools. The vacuum is very quiet, even on the high setting. Suction is superior and brush roller has no problems in high pile carpet. The user manual clearly notes part numbers of parts for re-order. It is a bit heavy but very rugged to stand up to regular use in a house where several folks live and stuff is constantly being left on the floor. I’m looking forward to keeping up with dust and dirt in a busy household with lots of square feet. We purchased the 15″ Hoover Commercial HushTone Upright Vacuum Cleaner.

This thing is built like a tank. It has Excellent suction power. We have been in the cleaning business for over 30 years and this vacuum is the best hard surface floor cleaner we have ever used and we have used many. It is heavy but I knew that when I bought it. In order to be durable, powerful and tough, it is going to be a little heavy. We have tried the Dyson, the Shark and other lightweights which work well for a while. They just don’t hold up in a commercial environment. The onboard tools and suction hose do a great job as well. An extension tube would be helpful to keep from having to bend over when using it on the floor or up high. This Hoover commercial vacuum does the job it was built for.

A vacuum cleaner is a vacuum cleaner. This one is very effective at what it does. Its other merits and demerits are in the details. I wanted one that didn’t emit the smell of dust when it starts up…some do. With three levels of filtration, this one doesn’t. The low noise level is a plus, as is the very long power cord. Despite the “Commercial” designation, I got this to use at home, and if I had noticed before buying it that it also came in a 13-inch width, I would have bought that instead. The extra width can be a bit ungainly around home-scale furniture, but I’ll live with it. It’s not light, but powerful motors have lots of copper in them and copper is heavy, so light weight in a powerful vacuum cleaner is an unrealistic expectation. Mostly plastic everywhere else helps make up for it, at some expense of durability, but most plastic parts appear to have beefy proportions that shouldn’t break soon. My only real quibble is the shortage of attachments. Only a crevice tool and a useless joke of a dusting brush come with it and are stored on board. But accessories from its predecessor fit, so this is not a problem for me. If this were anyone’s first vacuum cleaner, this would be problematic. Getting back to the basics of how well it works, this machine is very good value for the money compared to others that aim at commercial service.

I bought this in October and by December, lost a wheel that has been difficult to keep on. Hoover was completely inadequate to deal with and did not help solve the problem despite a two year warranty.
That said, I like the vacuum. It’s completely dust free and the bags are excellent. I actually enjoy using it and my kid has allergies and this does seem to keep things cleaner than other vacuums I’ve tried, both bagged and bagless.
I seem to have found a clip that fits in this set: Hilitchi 150-Pcs 304 Stainless Steel External Circlip Snap Retaining Clip Ring Assortment Set – Size: 4mm to 28mm
However, I don’t feel I should be fixing a vacuum after two months but if this is all that goes wrong I’ll be pleased. I hope this clip keeps the wheel on …

I am very pleased with this vacuum. I like to research anything that I will spend my money on especially if it is over $50. I looked at all the most popular brands and vacuums to replace my old (+15yr) Eureka vacuum. I knew that I did not want a bagless type of vacuum as I prefer not to deal with emptying dust and such. I also wanted a simple vacuum that would also be sealed so the allergens and dust would not be blown back into my home. So, after much research and consideration, this led me this Hoover Commercial vacuum. I really like the look, long cord, simplicity of build and troubleshoot, and that it is actually lighter than my previous vacuum. It does exactly what was built for. No frills or gimmicks. In addition, it has two seals of approval from the Carpet & Rug Institute which the other vacuums do not have according to my research, so that means it was tested by an outside organization. I am most satisfied with this product so far. It works on both my rugs and hardwood floor. I would highly recommend this product and even though it is commercial, carpet and floors are still the same to me. I also like that it was assembled here in the USA as i try to support my fellow Americans! Hope this helps!

Bags are very convenient. Having the extra HEPA filter is nice. It is a decent weight with good wheels. Very good suction.
Its crazy that you can talk casually with the person operating the vacuum when on normal (quiet) setting.
I made a camel alert and picked one up for a bargain. Its worth the full price though.

PROS: Simple machine with good suction . I bought it because have had good experience with Hoover durability; this one looks solidly built as well. CONS: Disappointed in the carpet “grooming” aspect. Used it for first time on clients carpet I’ve done with various vacs. This one had the poorest grooming of any used….could hardly see where it had been. Tried all the settings and speed with no noticeable difference. Somewhat awkward turning. Miss not having the power switch on the handle…it’s a pain to have to reach to shut down momentarily while crossing cord, etc

So our vacuum broke and we had to buy a new one for our motel business. We went out to every store comparing vacuums. We went to ALL the big box stores you can think of. What we found out was the quality of vacuum cleaners has really plummeted over the years. The stores all had cheap pieces of junk. I spent a few hours on the internet and found this one. This is the most user-friendly vacuum I’ve ever had. If it does gets plugged up (rarely), it is easily accessible for you to unplug it. It looks and feels quality made. Been vacuuming with it for a year now and I’ve purchased another one for my own home use now. I’m as happy as a clam with my choice!

I bought this vacuum after my old Windsor Sensor went kaputt, and so far, so good! I use this vacuum for residential use, and it’s awesome! I really like how it can deep-clean carpets, and you notice it! Our carpets have never felt so clean. It’s built to last and feels heavy-duty. I also like how the cord is separate from the machine, so you can easily replace it if need be. The biggest selling point for me is the sealed system with HEPA filtration, w/ an allergen bag! You would NOT believe how many vacuums out there are expelling dirty air: it is NOT normal for the house to smell after vacuuming. Another pro is the intellibelt system: it works! I accidentally vacuumed up a charger cord left on the ground, and the vacuum automatically turned itself off. My only small con is that I wish the wand were telescopic/longer, but it’s OK.
Overall, this vacuum is a great buy. Don’t buy Dyson! Buy this!
Avid Techie –
Yes it uses bags. Totally worth it though. For the last several years I’ve gone through a parade of expensive bagless units that turn out to be all plastic and break in a year or less (yes I’m looking at you Dyson). This vacuum beats every other one I’ve used hands down. Not only it is actually less expensive than many of those other units, but it’s far better built and has so much more suction. If you give it a try I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Keep in mind this is a commercial device – it’s not lightweight and is a bit louder than other vacuums.
Brian Williamson-Miller –
The best commercial vacuum that actually works and gets the dirt out of my clients carpets. I would recommend this Hoover commercial to my other co-workers and to the company I work for.
Shawn Connors –
This has been a decent quality vacuum for residential use @ my home. I use it 2-4 times a month & it’s been fine after 1 year. I beleive the older machines from the 70’s & 80’s had better suction & parts overall. I’m not wrong. The suction on this is good… but nothing like the old machine I got from my parents 25 years ago. I wonder if the longevity will be as good… I doubt it, as most things are built to break nowadays. We’ll see. If you need something with superior “sucking” power… be prepared to spend $$ thousands.
Meeshka –
This vac seems sturdier than the last few I’ve tried, hoping it will last longer. It’s quiet, but doesn’t seem to have the suction power the cheaper versions of Hoover have. I think it’s also a bit pricey. Bags cost more, as I suspect filter may as well. This is a vac for work, so time will tell how effective it is.
robert swisher –
We bought two of them to use at our church. Normal suction is very good and quiet
Thee is a higher suction setting but have not needed it
Very sturdy and well designed. Made in America. It’s wider track makes the job go faster. And it has an offset section that allows you to get flush with baseboard
We are planning to purchase two more for our church. Great product by Hoover!
Rachel –
I’m impressed! I just replaced my $400 Dyson vaccum with this Hoover, and I’m so happy that I did. This vaccum’s performance and quality far exceeds Dyson’s, in my opinion. The suction power is amazing (both on carpets and hard floors), and comes with 5 different settings. The cord is very long, so no more unplugging in the middle of vaccuming. This vaccume comes with 2 hose attachments, one with bristles, one without. It’s very quiet, so my apartment neighbors won’t hate me for vaccuming everyday. It’s $100 cheaper then the Dyson I had AND it’s made in the USA. Honestly what’s not to love about this vaccum.
Johnny –
It is so quiet and incredibly powerful. The cord is plugged in one time per floor and it reaches every room. It doesnt stink when I vacuum with it, even in the dog room. The bags last waaaay longer than those canister type vacuums. I don’t need to empty it every time I use it. Also I don’t have to breathe in the dust when I empty it! Why we EVER thought a canister vacuum is better I have NO IDEA! I LOVE this vacuum! I have been through 5 of those OTHER types in the last 10 years and I was sick of wasting my money. I will never get rid of this one.
