The robot does an excellent job on our rather thick carpet. It is much better than it’s earlier model (A4) which we have had for several years. The A4 handles our hardwood floors, and the A4s Pro handles the carpeted rooms. The only reason that I didn’t give the A4s Pro 5 stars was its tendency to try to commit suicide by throwing itself down our rather steep stairs. I used it a few times on the hardwood floor upstairs, but it has an unhealthy tendency to ignore the stairs and just head straight down. The A4 doesn’t have that problem. The cool “don’t go here” device that comes with it works well and can save the A4s from its destructive tendencies, but I regularly forget to turn it on.

I have two cats and work a lot, so all my chores get saved for Saturday. I wanted something to help keep up with the floors (cat hair mostly) throughout the week. I did some research and found this. I don’t have another robot to compare this to, but I can’t imagine they can get much better than this. I was really impressed at just how much hair and dirt it picked up, especially off the carpet. It has a “high suction” mode you can keep on instead of it just kicking on when it transitions from hardwood to carpet. I like that. It lasts well over an hour on a charge also. I didn’t feel the need to spend five or so hundred dollars on one of these, I just wanted one that would keep up with picking up the cat hair and I’m really impressed at how good this is at that. For what I was looking for, five stars all day. I actually skipped manually vacuuming for a couple weeks cuz there’s really no need. It’s absolutely comparable to my manual vacuum as far as suction and what it picks up. Transitions over everything nicely and hasn’t gotten stuck yet.

I love this vacuum! I schedule it to run every day. It’s slim profile goes under furniture easily. Crosses thresholds without a problem. Goes from hardwood to area rugs without a problem. Easy to empty collection bin. My only complaint, which is why I didn’t give it 5 stars, is that the filter is not washable. This adds to the cost of usage by having to get replacement filters, though the cost of this unit is quite reasonable. This is the third robot vacuum I’ve used, and by far, the best! I’ve only had it a couple of months, so we will have to see about it’s longevity.

Not app controlled, not connected to WiFi, but you don’t need it, remote control , you can set a daily cleaning time, set it and forget it, just clean the collection bin daily because like all vacuums, it it’s full there is no place for the dirt to go. Great suction! This works great and with all these robo vacuums it can’t get it all at once, but after just a few cycles it will keep your floors clean. For the price you can’t beat it! Get you one, unless you just love to vacuum everyday!

We named this robot Wall-e, and he is a welcome addition. He does about 500 sq ft on a single charge, and then docks like a champ. He has never fallen off into the recessed living room, even without his digital wall. (Included digital walk works great, btw.) Wall-e picks up dirt, Goldfish crackers, Qtips with no problem. Turns himself off if he sucks up cords. Navigates tile and hard floors well–have not attempted carpets. Haven’t used the timer setting. Cons: he’s noisy-ish. Probably don’t want him running while you watch your favorite shows. The noise isn’t an issue for us, we have kids. He won’t fit under the couch, and navigating around dining chairs slows him down. He doesn’t travel in a discernable pattern, but he also doesn’t miss spots. I have waist length hair that wraps around Wall-e’s brushes, and I have to clean that off after each clean. So I’m not sure how lots of long dog hair would work. (We have a single, short haired pet whose fur poses no issues.) Overall: Wall-e makes me happy.

This is the second iLife robot vac I’ve owned, and I’m so glad I replaced the old one with the same brand!! I live in a single level apartment with a dog, so this is perfect for my space. It goes over my area rugs with zero issues, and this new one handles the transitions between floors even better than my old one. My old one (RIP) worked faithfully DAILY for three years and DEFINITELY paid for itself and then some with time saved for me! The old one had issues with dark carpeting so I had to cover the drop sensor lasers, but this one has no issues at all. Super happy, affordable and quality product.

Likes: very quiet, picks up lots of pet hair (Bissell 1974 we previously had did not do as well), parks straight in rather than backing in, wireless remote easy to use. Dislikes: the schedule works the same time each day (would be nice to only run on the weekends), dust bin not easy to remove/clean, occasionally gets ‘stuck’ under the dining room table (putting chairs up fixes this), not sure how long it runs (we use it when not at home) so have to look at the rug tracks. Overall happy with the unit. A lot of bang for the buck.

we live in a large house with central vac which we would use about once a week. This little robot comes along and runs daily and its surprising how much cleaner things feel. It catches a lot of dog hair so you need to dump after every run and clean hair out of the beater brush but overall we are very impressed. Another nice thing is going from hard wood to carpet , really no problems and the suction changes.

Even though I do a weekly cleaning with my regular vacuum I was really embarrassed to see what this little machine picked up and more embarrassed to provide a picture but here it is.
I always start in the edge cleaning mode with the vacuum riding the edge with ease. It turns outside corners without problem and for the most part will take the inside corners without problem but I do have a couple of inside corners that it will not go into. (??)
I next switch to the auto cleaning mode and let the vacuum go. This is a random cleaning vacuum rather than one that goes back and forth in a uniform pattern. I’m OK with this because my walkable floor space is not that much. Two attached pictures show the pattern on carpet. One shows the edge cleaning, another the random cleaning pattern.
I have a few floor carpets, one is about 5/8” thick, the others about 1/2”. The vacuum rolls up onto these without problem. (Only 1 video allowed, this is it). The carpet in the bedrooms and living rooms is very thick and when the vacuum enters these rooms it speeds up and cleans effortlessly.
I have only tested the spot cleaning mode to see how it works. The vacuum spins in a circle expanding outward for a few minutes then goes into auto cleaning mode.
I have not used the mini-room cleaning mode. I either place the vacuum in a room and close the door to keep it from leaving or I place the included electrowall to keep it where I want it to clean, for example my kitchen area.
The electrowall is a handy gadget to use. I have found it is best to place the unit about 6-8 inches out from where you want the barrier to be. The vacuum will not glide along the barrier in the edge cleaning mode, instead it sort of bounces back and forth into the barrier then takes off again.
I have only tested the schedule mode to see how it works and found that at the set time it backed out of the charger and took off to do its thing.
I have not let the vacuum run long enough to drain the battery where it needs to return to the charger. I do use the home button on the remote to send it back to the charger. It is important to note that the charger needs to be in a clear space without obstacles on either side. I first tucked my charger neatly into a corner and it took forever for the vacuum to locate it. Moving it to a clear wall allows the vacuum to easily return. Keep in mind if your vacuum is on one end of the house and the charger on the other end it will still take time to get home. In that case I just pick it up and place it on the charger myself.
I have two “sunken” rooms and have found that the cliff sensors work exactly as expected.
Cleaning the vacuum is a must, not necessarily if you are doing one or two small rooms but certainly after a whole house cleaning. The instructions are pretty straightforward. I use a very soft brush to clean the inside of the dust bin and shake out the filter.
I’ve only had this vacuum a little over two months and use it 2-3 times a week. Based on the collection I find in the dust bin I believe this vacuum is worth every penny I paid and recommend it.

Just started using this Robot Vac and find it to be a good product. It takes a long time to complete my home since all rooms are open. The first time around it did a good and almost complete job of the office and the middle of the dining room then wandered into the hall down one side, did some of the living room and went on into the master bedroom where it did some work before it got stuck under my bed and ran out of power trying to get out.
The next time it finished all but one part of the dining room, did a little more of the hallway and then worked hard in the living room (I closed the door to the master bedroom) but missed a couple of spots because it kept wandering off to the breakfast area and kitchen. It was hard to try to control it to go back to the base so I finally picked it up and put it on the floor in front of its base, once again pushed the home button and it docked successfully.
The third time I closed the door on the bedrooms with it inside and it did pretty good in both of those areas. For one of my dressers it was able to get under it, clean and get out, the other one it went a ways and came back out and did better with my bed this time around. I did not watch what it completed in the master bath but I saw signs of it making it in one of the closets pretty good but the other did not seem to get completed.
Not too bad since I does not have mapping capabilities.

It does rugs better than an upright because it doesn’t suck the edges up. I love that it turns to higher suction when it detects a rug. I love that you can send it home with the remote. I does need to be able to “sense” its dock in order to find its home, so it can take a while to find it. Every day, I’m surprised at how much dust it picks up. It is worth every penny. It has also made me more conscious of not leaving stuff on the floor. My kids treat it like a pet and named her Dusty. It helps motivate them to pick up as well. Its also helpful that it warns you when it’s stuck by beeping 3 times. It is very easy to clean the brush and “whiskers.” We have had it 1 week and I only pulled out the broom once to sweep up the edges. It does a good job on the edges, but it’s not perfect. I does under the table without having to move chairs! We don’t have stairs, but the cliff sensor works when you pick it up without turning it off or try to turn it on while holding it. It gets stuck under our recliner chair because the edge is just high enough that it can get under the back, but it moves along the edge and gets stuck under the front. We figured out we can recline the chair and Dusty won’t get stuck!

I’ve only run it twice and these are my observations. The dust cup isn’t large enough. You’ll want to pause it and empty it several times if you have a large space or pets which means it can only run while I’m at home. I don’t think these are designed to be your main vacuum. It just can’t get into all the little areas. I do believe it will serve the purpose I intend to use it for which is a daily run to keep the floors cleaner between more thorough cleaning with my standard vac. It pays to move items out of its way such as footstools, dining chairs, cords, etc. so that it will provide a more comprehensive clean. Also, I have a dark hallway and it seemed to get stuck there and have a difficult time getting out. I’ll turn a light on for it and see if that helps. I will update this review after more use.

I purchased this vacuum to replace my Roomba 895. The battery in my Roomba had died and it’s pretty expensive to replace, so I researched a lot of robotic vacuums online and decided on the ILife A4s, even though I had never heard of this brand. I decided on the ILife because it had good reviews and you can’t beat the price compared to the other robotic vacuums. This vacuum is MUCH quieter than my Roomba 895, plus, it’s not as tall so it can easily go under my couches and other furniture, where the Roomba could not. We have two dogs and a cat, so pet hair is a problem in my house and the ILife easily picked up the hair. We have a few throw rugs throughout our house and the ILife easily converted from bare floors to the throw rugs without any problems. The only problem it had was getting over some of the transition strips between rooms, but in all fairness, some of our rooms have a substantial height difference, and the Roomba could not get over them either. So far, I am very pleased with my purchase.

This is my second ilife vac (similar model) and I liked the first enough to get a second. I have mixed feelings about this one, so let’s start with the pros:
*Suction is pretty good and an improvement over my previous model. It does leave some stuff that I would expect it to grab but it also picks up a lot that I didn’t even know was there for it to grab. It’s both impressive and gross every time we empty the bin (which is so easy – click it out, empty, click it back in).
*It’s relatively quiet – you can have a conversation while it’s operating in the room.
*It’s low profile and can scoot under low surfaces to take care of under bed dust bunnies.
*The transition between bare floor and carpet is smooth. It needs a boost sometimes but don’t we all.
*It includes a movable electronic barrier that the vacuum will not cross, which can help contain it. This brings me to the cons….
I knew that this was not able to map a room or travel in a linear fashion when I purchased it. However…it almost always perseverates on one random area whereever it is and they are never the areas I want clean. I just watched it spend 20 minutes cleaning a 3 foot area at the end of the hallway without ever making an attempt to return to the living room, which is what I actually wanted cleaned. It consistently cleans the same 3 foot area of my dining room and spends the rest of the battery life trying to find a way into the kitchen instead of cleaning the other 95% of the dining room. This might be solved by another electronic wall as most of my rooms have 2 exits – I don’t know. What it ends up feeling like is that I have the toddler version of a vacuum that needs a lot of supervision and guidance to stay on task, when I really needed something that could take care if itself.
Conclusion: I still like ilife and this product. Given it’s propensity to race straight for the areas I’m trying to keep it away from I would not recommend it for homes with several rooms with more than one exit (unless there is a door). It does the job its supposed to do but requires a lot of supervision for something that is intended to make life easier. It will clean a floor…but there’s no rhyme or reason to where it goes and whether it covers the whole floor in the course of its travels is up to chance.

Works well, but I’ve already had to replace the remote….and you can’t buy a replacement from iLife, or anywhere else….you have to buy a third party remote, which has less buttons than the original. One of the front brushes already quite working as well. I had to put the base behind my dining room table to due wall space restrictions, and if I don’t take the chairs out of the dining room, it can’t find it’s way back home….it just sits there and goes back and forth. If I buy another one, it’ll be one with tracking on it. Nice vacuum if you have a small area, no kids, or no pets. The hair and small toys, such as legos pose problems for it.

Update: So after having it for a few months, I decided to downgrade the rating. Most annoying thing about this robot is the scheduling. Obviously you buy a vacuum robot to make cleaning worry free. Well if the robot gets stuck somewhere and loses power then it’s deprogrammed. You have to reprogram if you want it to run on schedule. This happens about every 3 day’s. Emptying the dust bin is messy. If you don’t take the whole machine to a big trash can and then pull the dust bin away, you’ll end up with dust all over the floor. Sometime the whole dust clump will empty out all over the floor simply removing the bin.
Third, virtual wall battery life is about one month. I find it extremely wasteful that you need to leave it on all the time or manually turn it on and off. I wish you could program these to a schedule.
Roller brush- there are 3 people in my household with long hair and we have a dog. I have to clean the brush daily to take hair out otherwise the vacuum will get an error, get stuck and get deprogrammed. I did buy an extra roller to see if Changing it out every few days will help. It’s still a pain in the ass.
Original review:
This is my third iLife robot. This one is outstanding. Really happy with the cleaning power on hard wood and carpet. I have two daughters with long hair and also a dog who sheds. The first week
I had it, we had to empty the dust bin almost every 30 mins it ran. Also we cleaned the roller brush after every use. I think we will only need to clean it once a week now because it can keep up with how much hair we shed. I highly recommend getting extra filters and roller brushes in the beginning especially if you House is dusty or extra dirty!

I purchased this for my mom that is a clean fanatic!! I just knew she wouldn’t like it and would say it didn’t have a strong enough suction. She was extremely pleased in every way and uses it daily. Definitely worth the money and would absolutely buy again.

Battery life is 1.5hours. We have 4 cats and 2 dogs and I can’t believe how clean our floors are after a week. Picks up the animal hair off a wood floor and throw-rugs with ease. It doesn’t “learn” your house, but does a decent job of navigating your house with its bump bar. It is fairly quiet and from what I looked up, the replacement parts (NiCad battery, brushes, filters, etc) are very reasonable.
When the battery gets low, it will make its way back to its docking station automatically. This is worth every penny.
Jack –
We have 2 cats. Initially the robot filled up very quickly and had to be emptied repeatedly because it stopped. However now that it’s been working regularly it no longer clogs up. Another problem is that it got stuck on the fringes on certain area rugs. To solve this problem I cut off the fringes. Hopefully this will not result in the rugs unraveling. In any event, the robot now works properly and our place is a lot cleaner than before we purchased it.

Used this for the first time today. It tends to get stuck pretty easy, got hung up on the floor register once, also got itself cornered once. It is teaching me the things I have to move so it has room to do its thing 😉 It only ran an hour when it was ready to head back to the charging station. It also ran the block that is to keep it from leaving a certain area. Again, a learning curve for me but beats using the big vacuum 😉

The price was right, especially with the coupon. There are a dizzying amount of robot vacuum options. We thought this one had wifi. But nope. Oh well. It works fine. It does simple programs via it’s remote. So far, so good on suction and cleaning. Though it hasn’t started via the program a couple of times. Lastly we have a few of those tied rugs. Any minor loose end entraps the vacuum. It did vacuum our high quality carpet pretty well. Oh and the little electronic barrier thing works great. I wish it came with at least two. Overall. Probably a 3.5.

In a word, amazing! I have asthma and we live in a 3,000 sq ft home. My husband and I work different shifts, so properly vacuuming requires lugging vacuums up/down stairs and spending our weekends off cleaning. This has solved that problem. We love it so much, we purchased another for the top floor. Now we can literally set a schedule and everything is cleaned at once. We were amazed to see how well it cleaned under sofas, tables and areas our vacuum can’t reach. Several runs later, we were sold. We even spent part of a Saturday evening following our new vacuum to our amusement, lol. Love it.

I have to say, I really hate vacuuming. The iLife vacuum is great. We have a dog and she sheds something awful. The iLife vacuum is doing a great job with the dog hair. We did have a few issues with it, we programmed it to start vacuuming at 11:00 AM but for some reason it doesn’t started until 12:00 PM. It got caught on the base and legs of one of our end tables and had a hard time getting back on track. All in all a great purchase.
Amazon Customer –
It was easy to setup. Let it charge overnight and it was ready to go. It did a nice job of going under tables and chairs. I don’t run it when I’m not going to be in the house because it does get stuck under our kitchen cabinets sometimes and just sits there and spins so I don’t want it to somehow wear a hole in the floor.
