I recently moved to a larger apartment. My apartment is one bedroom – 588 sq ft. Only the bedroom has carpet. The rest of the apartment is either vinyl or linoleum flooring (kitchen, living room, bathroom and utility room). I also have two black cats. And my little girl cat literally shoots out fur everywhere she goes – lol. Before I got this robot – I was living in a studio with basically carpet throughout the apartment. I was drowning in fur. And there was always litter everywhere. On top of all of this – I have rheumatoid arthritis. My mobility is limited and I have a bad back. Now, before I could vaccum the apartment but then again it was a studio. Moving into my new place was stressing me out with the thought of having to sweep (with a broom) everywhere to get the fur, litter and dirt – then vaccuum the bedroom. So, I bit the bullet and decided to purchase this little workhorse. I read it had pretty decent reviews. My friend was here when it arrived and he got all excited opening the box – LOL. So, I let him play with my new toy first. He fell in love. She talks to you – he loved that. (I do too) I have used her 3 times and the last time – she did two passes throughout the apartment. She is doing a great job getting the fur bunnies, litter and well it is spring so with all the moving I ended up with mud/dirt on my floors. She has only gotten stuck once (she ran herself over the pedestal fan in the bedroom so I had to rescue her – it was funny when she said put me down – LOL LOL). I am also changing over to a new phone. Once I do that – I will download the app. Can’t wait. I am really pleased with my purchase. NOW – my cats – well my little girl cat is fascinated and follows it around. My big boy – he is scared of it. Poor little guy. So, yes this does work. It is easy to set up. Doesn’t take much room. You don’t have to attach the base to the wall.

Revised review (prior review panned the vacuum): I had posted a 1 star review, complaining that linking the Xiaomi Mi Home app in the Alexa skills menu failed to give me voice control over this device (you set up the vacuum on your iPhone using their Mi Home app). Upon seeing my review, a Xiaomi representative emailed me privately, professionally, politely, to correct my user error. In fact, I had linked to the wrong app! Xiaomi provides a separate Alexa skill called Roborock Home that you must link Alexa to, using your Mi Home logon credentials. Now Alexa does in fact link to this robot! So, apologies to Xiaomi. I want to also point out other reviews I found here complaining that the device cannot be controlled by Alexa–it’s not intuitive how to connect it, but once you figure it out the linkage does exist.
I’m giving the device 5 stars, but please be aware that is just a placeholder because I no longer wish to ding the product with a 1 star review for false advertising. I haven’t yet actually operated the device. I just didn’t want to punish Xiaomi the manufacturer when in fact the mistake was mine. Also, I really appreciated how they got back to me immediately, and not with a public retort kind of posting or one of those offensive PR patrol responses like “we are sorry you have trouble, please contact us privately so we can tell you to go to Hell with no one seeing how bad our customer support is”. I thought how they handled my incorrect complaint was both professional, and respectful/classy. So I really like the company now. As for the product, time will tell and I do plan to post an update when I see that it works well.

The first thing I noticed about this vacuum is the large dust bin. See in my picture next to the can of Pledge. After running the robot vacuum on a regularly vacuumed carpet it picked up a good amount of embedded dust and dirt. This robot does not have mapping or no-go lines like some of the higher-level models, but I think this is reflected in the pricing. Overall I am happy with this vacuum and will use it to keep my pool table chaulk free.

Best purchase possibly ever or at least since my Dyson purchase. I am astonished at how well this little guy cleans up everything. We have predominantly hardwood floors throughout our home but many area rugs a dog and two bunnies that can create quite a mess. Not to mention the 3 girls, one of which rides horses and brings home all sorts of dirt, dust and fur and a husband who loves to cook, tinker and leave messes everywhere because he’s too busy creating and thinking, all of which I am ok with but I also work a lot and run my own business. So not a lot of time for cleaning honestly. We have it set on a cleaning schedule at night while were sleeping. I have it run nightly to clean up the day’s messes. I’ve noticed it has also significantly cut down on the amount of dust our home/we produces likely improving the overall air quality in the home. The mop feature works very well and I run that every other night just to keep things tidy overall. I still do a deep clean once a month myself but have noticed a great improvement overall in our floors cleanliness. I would suggest buying more mop cloths if you end up using this feature as much as I do. With kids you will want to use it. It really does a good job mopping surprisingly. I’m honestly shocked.

The thing I like most about my Roborock E4 is the fact it manipulates and tricks me into picking up and putting away the things left out on my floor. It does this by sending alerts to my phone while I’m at work that I am not going to have a nicely vacuumed home awaiting for me to return because I lacked at putting my s**t away. It also achieves this when I’m home by mesmerizing me with it’s abilities to vacuum up all the dirt and debris in a flawless zig-zagged pattern from my vinyl wood floors. In excitement and politeness for it to do it’s job, I quickly remove all random objects from my floors that may come across it’s path. If I don’t, it yells at me in it’s deep robovoice to get off my lazy butt and help get it’s wheel unstuck from whatever random object that got in it’s way.
When I attach the mopping attachment, it encourages me to get creative by blocking it’s track away from carpets and rugs. There have been a few times that my quick enguinity has impressed myself which is a great confidence booster and motivator!
Lastly, it manipulates me to get my swiffer mop out to help it scrub the millions of layered muddy dog prints that cover my floors. There is only so much a thin attachment pad and water can do to dried buddy prints, however I appreciate that it removes the first layer from my floors and reminds me of the definition of ‘teamwork’.
Thank you helpful, little, manipulative buddy, for being such a great cleaner, teammate, and master motivator. I appreciate that my home is now cleaner regardless as to which one of us does it.
5 stars.

I live in a small townhouse with a cat and a golden retriever, so fur is all over the house. Not to mention the dirt that we track inside from our walks. Every morning, I run the vacuum and it picks up and all the loose fur, not to mention the litter my cat scatters everywhere. I even run it one more time in the evening to pick up the dirt brought in during the day. It allows me to get other things down while I know the floors are getting cleaned. The battery life has been great.
My one complaint is the app and vacuum don’t appear to work on a 5G wi-fi network which is what my google home is synced to, so I can’t control the vacuum with my google home, not unless I redo all of my settings and I’m just not willing to go through that. I’ll worry about it in my next home.
Otherwise, this vacuum has been great for my small townhome that has both carpet and wood floors along with two furry animals bent on destroying my home. Well worth the purchase!
UPDATE — Although I still love the vacuum, it doesn’t detect stairs as it should. It’s always getting stuck and/or completely falling down the stairs.

I have tried comparable models from Deebot, Roomba 600 series, MooSoo & Kyvol. I can honestly say that the Roborock has the most, and best, features. While the Roomba was definitely best at raising the nap of the carpet, it was very limited on the extra functions, at least for the “under $700 models.”
I also did not expect much from the Roborock mop feature, but it too far exceeded my expectations.
I love the roborock and would highly recommend this product.
Swamprats –
When I first opened the box & looked this robot over I was very skeptical…it looked very similar to my Roomba – it would be getting stuck every night in the exact same spots. The dust bin looked like I’ll never be able to get all of the dirt out because of the lip. The mop attachment is so small I figured I would be spending my day refilling it. BUT!!! I wouldn’t trade this machine for anything!
It doesn’t get stuck everywhere like my Roomba did (I have 4 spots on my main level that really trips up the robots). If it does get stuck it remembers not to get that close so it doesn’t get stuck again. AND the mop has enough water in 1 trip to clean the entire floor, which consists of a large living room, a large kitchen/dining room, a full bathroom & a hallway! AND I can get all of the dirt put of the dustbin….the dustbin is located in the middle of the machine & you access it by opening the lid. It is super easy and CLEAN to remove it for emptying. I just tap the bin on the side of my garbage can & 99% of the dirt comes out! The Roomba dust bin design is horrible! Leaves dirt all over the floor underneath it.
This machine does vacuum & mop all at the same time! Love it!
I have it vacuum every night because everyone in my family works construction plus we have a dog, a cat & a hairy guinea pig plus outside animals = A LOT of dirt, hair & grass! And then I will add the mop attachment & start it when I leave for work about 2-3x/week. It comes with a plastic floor protector so with that I can let the machine sit until I get home & not worry about my floor getting ruined.
Oh! AND it is really quiet! Especially compared to the Roomba but yet has a powerful enough suction to pick up things that my Roomba wouldn’t…such as plant pieces that have fallen on the floor & dog food pieces. I don’t need to leave the room to talk on the phone when it’s running anymore!
Would truly recommend this vacuum and I’m not being paid to say that. It is stars above every Roomba I have ever had!

What I wish I knew before purchasing: it does not use the Roborock app. You use a different Chinese app that I didn’t try after reading all the permissions it required. So I am using this by just pushing the button and letting it go. I wanted something that wouldn’t collect hair on the brush. I also thought the mopping feature would be great to have. For comparison, I’ve owned a Roomba 690 for a few years. This collects less hair than the standard bristle brush Roomba 690 uses, but this E4 still required me to clean the long hair from the brush. The Roomba 690 also bumps into things rather hard, this one is more gentle on the baseboards. The suction is very good. In a room without many obstacles, it cleans in straight lines instead of bouncing from one thing to another like the Roomba 690. It does have trouble mapping out furniture and such. It will miss sections and gets lost, but I have not used the app. The mopping feature is pretty basic. I’m not sure if it’s worth the extra price. Overall, it’s a good budget unit if you want something that’s a step up from the first ping-pong robot vacuums. The Roomba is still hard to beat with its cleaning power however.

I love being able to come home to a freshly sweet carpet every day. It’s really cut down on the cat hair and dust in my house. I also love the ability to attach a mop head and let it mop around the hard floors. I usually fill it with HOT water to clean better and clean the cloth a couple times and change out the now-cold water for hot to really get the floor well mopped. Still easier than doing it myself!
My criticisms are: it consistently gets stuck on my rocker by high-centering itself: the mop cloth is too thin so I had to cut a washcloths into a crescent shape and put that between the plastic water reservoir and the mop cloth to make it actually reach and clean the floor; it scrapes its hood/top trying to fit under furniture.

Years ago we had one of the R***ba original robotic vacuums and one of the same company’s mopping bots, as well. They were great, but after several years, they both failed and the company, having been sold off, hiked prices and, in our experience, lowered quality. We’ve been looking for good replacements ever since. This Roborock is the best we’ve encountered. It simply does what it advertises. the vacuum successfully deals with multiple carpets with fringe and doesn’t get stuck under furniture. It edge cleans better than any robot vacuum we’ve had, and the mop feature doesn’t leave trails of water. I wish it had a spray/scrub/squeegee function, because a damp microfiber isn’t real mopping. However, this does a very good job of keeping up our hardwood kitchen floor and stone bathroom floors between moppings – and that includes dealing with a lot of pet and human hair. It’s also not as loud as brands we’ve tried/returned and its battery duration between charges is quite good.

I have a Husky, Malamute and 3 medium hair cats, and live in dusty AZ., this little machine is a godsend!! Haven’t tried the mop yet, still replacing some carpet with hardwood, and read the reviews on how it doesn’t recognize differences between the two. It does know the difference between various types of rugs and flooring. Currently I have tile, harwood and minor carpet, and rugs. Pics of cats are from different house, but so you can see their fur. Still have to clean under some area due to vacuum height, but talk about time saving as a whole !!!
Will post once try the mop 🙂

Bought it to help with dog hair and foot prints on floor… first one lost drive wheel in 3 days… was replaced by Amazon… just started new one yesterday will see how it holds up vs the other robot upstairs thats 3 or 4 years old now and still running…

Looks prettier than the picture shows, the matte black design looks very cool.
It does not have a LiDAR system like the one in the more expensive models, but it is cleverer than I thought it would be. It navigates the rooms efficiently, slows down when approaching walls and obstacles, goes around and cleans under chair legs, the optical navigation system it has exceeds my expectation.
It also climbs small steps without any issue, and cleans under curtains and furniture.
I really like that it can automatically increase suction power when going from hard floor to carpet. And the mopping function is good, it is neither too wet nor too dry.
Plus, I think it has some kind of memory of the maps (though I don’t see it in the product description), you can see the maps in the cleaning history, more importantly, after it stored the map when it finished cleaning my house, the time it took to clean reduced for the second cleaning, then reduced again for the third cleaning. Will see if it can reduce even more in the future.
Overall, it is definitely worth the money.

See the photo. The circled area is a hallway from one room to another but robot got confused on a way back and mapped it as 2 separate hallways. I think it would improve cleaning if robot could map the perimeter first and then clean the inside of it. It also would be nice to see the line trajectory inside of the mapped area as well as real time mapping while robot is cleaning. Mopping water flow is not controlled through app, also see the picture it only snaps on one side only and I can see it break quick when it tries to climb things over and over

I run this robot daily and sometimes twice daily if the dogs have tracked dirt in or out. It’s unbelievable how much dirt it picks up daily-mostly dog hair and dander. It has completely changed the way I clean. I run a broom behind doors and in some corners about once a week and the robot does the rest. The mopping feature cleans the dog prints and small spots. I put hot water in the reservoir to start. I leave rugs in place even when using the mop feature. It’s such a small amount of moisture that it has not had any impact on the area rugs. I cannot speak for carpet because I have none. The app is reassuring because it shows the cleaning path after each cleaning session so I know it has not missed a room like my old Roomba used to do. I put it in gentle mode when I want the robot to be nearly silent while cleaning but otherwise I use the balanced mode for faster cleaning. The battery lasts for the entire cleaning unless I put it in turbo mode for a faster cleaning. I use the robot for the first floor which is about 1800 sf. It occasionally wedges itself under a kitchen cabinets but not every time. I have to close the front door during cleaning to keep its wheels from getting suspended. I tell everyone about this vacuum because I like it so much.

I waited to review .
I really like this item, however I am having a few issues :
It does not get ALL the edges that well . I noticed some other units have the round fanlike pieces that brush dirt on both sides , not just one side , and wonder if this has something to do with it . Sometimes it gets stuck under cabinets, etc . or doesn’t seem to be able to get close enough to go under the cabinet fronts . It gets stuck under the refrigerator front , also and can’t get close enough under the dishwasher .
It gets stuck on virtually all the transitions from floor surfaces .
It doesn’t seem to get stairs . Even though the same floor transition that it gets stuck on by other rooms is by my stairs , it lunges right over it and flies right off the stairs so I must put a barrier there avoid this . It has done this from day 1 .
I have to keep watching and reorienting and resetting it to get the floors done .
It does seem to clean well .
( Our bathroom floor is tile and has some dimension to it , and that is the only floor it doesn’t seem to be able to clean well, as it just goes over the higher parts . )

After over 20 hours of research and reviews, I could not gave been more pleased going with Roborock E4 as my very first robot vacuum. Paid about $170 out the door after applying $75 reward points, $110 coupon on top of cyber sale price.
Criterias:
-Under $300
-Must pick up long hair(not tangle into roller OR hair is easily removed from roller)
-Minimum 2000pa suction
-MOP and vacuum
-Decent navigation or mapping
-Hepa filter preferred
-Finds home when low battery
Results:
-Exceeded expectations pic#1 shows two emptied bins from cleaning kitchen, dining, living, bedrooms x2, bathrooms x2, hallways and foyer (that’s with mopping and sweeping last weekend)
-Impressive suction power
-Great job cleaning under the bed.
-Maneuvered exceptionally well under dining room table w 24 leg chairs
-Pic#3 is emptied bin after 3rd sweep
-Pic#4 downloaded the Mi Home APP for added remote functionality- named the bot, use time/area metrics, when to replace parts, schedule cleaning. APP will not show map of floor plan- Iike the newer models.
-Home and air quality noticeably cleaner.
As a newbie user who works 50 hours a week, and no longer have a cleaning person since COVID, I LOVE my new Roborock E4. I would definitely consider upgrading to laser mapping in next purchase.
Have not tried the mop feature yet, but already sooo WORTH it.
Best, M

Cleans up rooms well and quickly. We had a roomba a few years ago, I like the navigation much better with the e4. The e4 goes in straight lines not random angles like the roomba. You can even do a single room diagonally like you might do your lawn. Also we are very satisfied for the price, but know that the mop function is basically a damp mop which will keep itself wet with a reservoir. If you want a zamboni mop you’ll spen alot more $. We are happy with the mop feature!!

I liked this product and it’s features v. price and looked forward to trying it out. Unfortunately, the phone app used to control it, Mi Home (over 10M downloads to date and an average rating of 4.3), sends information on all smart devices on your network, along with passwords, MAC addresses, IP addresses and other device information, according to their privacy policy.
The information is stored on servers in China and India, in addition to the U.S..
I’m just too risk averse in today’s cyber world to agree to their policy.

It has good suction and works well as a vaccum cleaner. Mopping function is ok on hardwood but on ceremic floor tiles, it gets stuck in the middle of the floor with no obstructions. I raised the concern to the customer service, shared videos and got a confirmation that it seems to be skidding on tiles and it won’t work. They offered me to return it as it was still withing 30 days of purchase or a $30 refund as a compensation. If mopping is an essential feature you are looking for this is not for you.

I am going to preface this review by saying that I did not expect this vacuum/mop to be as effective as my regular vacuum or floor cleaner and it is not. However, I am quite impressed with this little guy. As many others stated in their reviews, I cancelled my cleaning service due to covid and I admit, I wasn’t that good at cleaning my carpets and floors as often as I should. I took that money I saved by not having a cleaning service and bought myself “Geoffrey” (thanks for the name, Fresh Prince). I was amazed at how much dirt “Geoffrey” sucked up after 1 pass. While he did miss a few spots, he was able to get to areas I cannot reach with my upright vacuum, such as under the bed. The reason I took 1 star off was for the mopping. I attempted to mop with the provided mopping pad but all I got was a wet pad, no dirt. I stuck a thicker wet mop pad using velcro and let it go for another pass. I was amazed how much dirt I was on the pad following the 2nd round. I don’t think the mop pad is thick enough to truly “mop” the floor. Small detail but I wanted to mention it to make others aware. In summary, I would highly recommend this machine!

I have not yet tried the mopping function – so I can’t comment on that.
But I have to say I’m VERY pleased with this little vacuum. Take time to get cables and small rugs out of the way – but for carpet and non-carpet it does a GREAT job. I have 2 cats that shed and shed. Running this vacuum 2 – 3 times per week (after every day for a few days until the bin wasn’t full EVERY TIME) has kept the floors cleaner than I was ever able to manage alone.
Emptying the bin and taking out the roller bar when needed are easy. The alerts for cleaning the parts are clear so you keep the vacuum cleaning at peak so far 1 week in. I live in a 1200 sq ft apartment and it cleans in a single run (about 2 hours).

This has been, by far, one of the best purchases I have made. I have bought several of these for friends and family. You do not know what you’re missing out on until you buy one of these robots. If I could give it 10 stars, I would!
It feels amazing getting home and the floor being spotless. It does a better job cleaning the floor than my cleaning person. I can walk barefoot. Even with a dog living with me, the floors are cleaner than ever. All the hair and dander my dog drops, this thing picks up, It also purifies the air with its HEPA filter so its easier on my allergies.
Again, I can’t say enough about this machine. It saves me time, promotes a healthier living space, as well as does it all without any hassle!

I got this as a gift for my Mom for Christmas this past year, she seems to love it!
She has two large dogs (lots and lots of dog hair EVERYWHERE) and it does a really good job of sweeping it all up. Great on both hardwood and carpet. I’m really impressed with the quality of this vacuum. The compartment where it holds the dirt is pretty big in my opinion, it holds even more than you would think! The vacuum finds her way “home” pretty well too.
The only part that seems a little tricky for her so far, is the room mapping on the app. I haven’t had a chance to sit down with her to set it all up.
Amazon Customer –
Wow! I do not know what I did without this! Works great over the carpet and hardwood floors. It sure is a time saver and helper. I don’t have it connected to wifi so whenever I want to use it, I press the button and there are no problems. It has gotten stuck a few times but I just move it and it goes on its way.
It is a little stupid and has a hard time ‘finding it home, but with a little help it gets back to it home base.
Kenisha Maxie –
The only negative I have to say about this product is setting it up with Alexa is not easy. I gave up on that and strictly use the app. Other than that, it does what it is intended to do. The bad reviews, in my opinion, have unrealistic expectations of a robovac. These are not designed to replace mopping and sweeping. I use this to keep tidy between cleanings. I don’t expect this to do my deep cleaning for me. This keeps me from having to daily sweep dog hair and wipe muddy dog prints. I’m ok with that.
Stephanie Allende –
I was always skeptical about robot vacuums and never thought they would get a “good cleaning”… I was wrong. I am highly impressed on the suction of this vacuum. Attached photos it got 200 minutes before battery got to 10% as it was returning itself to docking and 178 sq. Meters which is equivalent to 1,900 sq feet. And who doesn’t love vacuum lines?!? I havent used the mop feature yet, I just received this 3 days ago.
My home is 2,900 sq. Feet, half tile half carpet. I have an indoor Doberman Shephard who sheds ALOT along with a cat and 3 other dogs who are inside/outside. The dust bin has picked up so much fur even after i had used my upright Shark vacuum the day before.
Given 4 stars because twice now it said it got ‘stuck’ when nothing around it was obstructing its path.
Not a total replacement to vacuuming but its something I can run every single day to keep up the maintenance on the floors. App is simple to use…has the manuel , map of cleaning history, schedules, vacuum maintenance (brush roll, filter, etc) just wished it had a “no -go” zone.
